I felt like revisiting the fight with all these Floyd vs Manny threads pop up It truly was one of the biggest supefights of the decade and was a very good fight A star studded audience and an army of Hattons loyal supporters packed a Las Vegas hall in a bout that test Floyd and brought out his best Emmanuel Steward noticed early that Hattons foot speed and upper body movement mixed with the pressure really bothered Floyd and kept him uncomfortable I think rounds 1-7 were extremely competitive and that a strong case could be made for Hatton winning 1,2,3,5, and maybe 7. The point deduction was bull**** Floyd turned his back and Hatton punched the rope and didnt even hit Floyd or scraped him at most. I think Hatton did enough to even the round No doubt Floyd landed the cleaner and harder blows but he was inactive at stretchs and let Ricky maul him on the ropes and fire away. I think Anybody who says Floyd has no power is full of **** after watching this Cortez was horrible he was warning Ricky for holding when Floyd was the one initiating and the point deduction again was awful Also how much of an impact do you think Hatton hitting the ring post had on the end of the fight? After watching this fight Im curious to know how Floyd will fight Manny? The foot speed of Hatton and his ability to cut the gap and dart in gave him all kinds of issues for 7 rounds. Hattons lack of head movement saw him eat right after right until his legs let him down. Mayweather hardly used his legs vs Hatton and hardly used lateral movement. He stood his ground for the most part. Could this be disastrous vs Manny? Hatton lost ultimately because he could not land cleanly and didnt have the power to shake up Floyd. Can Manny land flush on Floyd, and with the kind of power to take the fight out of Floyd? Or do you think Floyd will not be as stationary and will be busier? Also if he lands the kind of right hands flush for 10 rounds with Manny lunging in can he score a KO over Manny?
You were watching a different fight to me if you think there is a case for Hatton winning 5 outta the first 7 rounds.
Hatton won round 1 and even that was due to Mayweather tripping over his foot and not from anything effective landing. It was a beat down.
Hatton took out r1 floyd takes a few rounds to figure hes opponent out but when he does its all over. He dominated and ko,d an undefeated champion. Full props to floyd
I at the most, gave him three rounds. Not because of what he did, but because thats just how Mayweather fights people. He doesn't urgently come out saying i have to KO someone. Hatton was still in it because of how well he was prepared, yet the 7th and 8th rounds, Hatton was just getting tattooed and was eating a lot of shots. Plus the holding makes me laugh because Hatton tried to do that to Floyd but Floyd out worked that maneuver and used it against him to win
Hatton won one round at best. He landed probably two shots of note on PBF the whole night. Hatton was beaten at his own game broken down and made to dance with the ring post. It was an underrated clinic if anything.:deal
hatton didnt land much of anything all night and successfully blocked shots with his face most of the fight. i'm not a pbf fan by any means (at all really) but it was a one sided beating by floyd against a game but outclassed opponent.
Anyone saying Hatton won only one round makes me think they didn't watch the fight when it happened. It was a very competitive fight until the last 2 rounds imo
hatton was a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing of note most of the fight. he really didnt land much of anything. if floyd was an offense first fighter it would have ended well before it did. ive always liked ricky and never really like floyd but it is what it is.
KO Kidd you're right in the fact that it was a massive event. But Mayweather beat Hatton all ends up, dunno what fight you were watching. Cortez was a terrible ref and defo hampered Hatton imo. But even if Hattons dad was ref, Mayweather still woulda won. It wasn't close as you make it out to be.
The HBO crew were exaggerating the effectiveness of Hatton. That's probably why you have the opinion you do about watching the fight when it happened. Turn the volume down and it's 89-81 before the TKO as two of the three judges correctly scored it.
