I might be able to hold off on a semi-bias viewpoint if he didn't STAB HIS WIFE TO DEATH. **** Valero. I'd pick him over the Khan, Judah, or Alexander's at 140, but for various reasons I don't care to paragraph out, I'd pick Bradley, Maidana, and Kotelnik over him at 140. Bottom line is it wouldn't be crazy to discover he'd get blown out by all six of the guys I named above, after all, he never once fought above 135. I mean, his five toughest opponents would be: DeMarco, Mosquera, Pitalua, Velazquez, Honmo. Not THAT impressive...

comparing Valero from his last fight with Maidana is sad. Valero was going in and out dishing brutal punishment. He was something special as a fighter and a sad individual as a human being.

Boxers don't half get overrated when they leave the sport, whether that is through retirement, or when they take the cowards way out.

The murderer had one decent, I repeat, decent...not great...win on his resume.
My opinion on some comments in this thread...

    Potential ATG? Not for me.
    Great Boxer? Nope.
He would have unified 135lbs? Nope.
He would have moved up and stopped the likes of Alexander, Bradley, Khan, etc? Nope.

Of course, he may have proven me wrong...if he hadn't murdered his wife, left his child(ren) parentless...then took the cowards way out. That is how I will remember him.

He wasn't a great boxer...when did he prove he was a great boxer?

I class the likes of Mayweather, Pacquiao, etc as great boxers...what did Valero do?

A great fighter . He would have become greater. Too bad that he had a crainial deficiency which he couldn't overcome outside the ring.

Not a 'great' boxer by any means, ha defo not compared to the likes of Floyd.

BUT... he had more skills than people gave him credit for. That last fight against DeMarco showed he wasn't just some crude slugger.

Shame he was a scumbag who was tapped in the head.

In his last bout he looked great, everybody could see he had more than just punching power. He would have KO'd barely anybody around and be champion.

Seriously? He would be on his way to the p4p top 3, and he would be looking at a taking on Manny. Oh and he would have relentlessly slaughtered JMM, then moved up, blown out Khan with non stop aggression and fearlessness. And now looking right at Manny instead of Sugar Shane no discredit to Mosley. But **** him he's a murderer!
