Round 2

Smith is just trailing along backwards, holding his right glove open to catch Rodela's shots and jabbing the heck out of him. Rodela is circling left and taking wide swipes out of his loose high guard. Rodela is throwing some combos hard but slow, starting out with a 1-2 and then just launching shots. They clinch and spin, with Smith drilling a right hand through on the break. Ugly stuff as Rodela gets his limbs meshed up with Smith's and tries to make it into more an arm-wrestling contest than a boxing match. Smith is just powering through, obliging Rodela with some infighting until the breaks and then flashing out quick power combos on the outside.

Round 3

Rodela is throwing long shots, very wide from outside. Rodela double jabs as Smith ducks down facing him a couple of paces away, trying to line up his head and then does land a hard right hand lead as Smith is straightening up. Smith grins and shakes his head. Smith goes back to backing Rodela up with fast sequences of stiff jabs and powerful combination punching. Rodela is ripping out a few wide slicing whacks while backing up and managing to hold his ground a bit, but Smith just drives into him and works the body to open up the head. Great performance by Smith right now. Rodela nails him with a left hook to the cheek and Smith doesn't even blink as he keeps wailing to the body.

Round 4

Smith is roaring forward with hard left hooks to the body and big right hands upstairs, throwing in rhythm and backing Rodela up constantly. Rodela is swinging for the fences with desperation uppercuts and looping bent-elbow whips from the hip while stumbling back as the shorter man keeps pushing into him and blasting away with quick power shots. Simth is chasing now, with Rodela fleeing to the ropes. Smith catches him and leans in to trade brutal body shots. Smith getting the better of it.

Rodela looks ready to go.

40-36 Smith

 

Round 5

Smith clocks in and gets right down to work on the inside, bullying Rodela back and working the body as Rodela tries to answer in kind. Smith pulls straight back from a right hand that grazes his hairline, and then takes a flush left hook as Rodela rushes in to follow up. Smith just grins condescendingly at him as Rodela backs away nervously upon noticing it had no effect. Smith keeps jabbing in after Rodela, who waits for Smith to finish punching before unleashing his own smatterings of sloppy offense. Smith NAILS him with a counter hook while backed up against the ropes. Rodela takes it as well as Smith took his. Smith follows Rodela around the ring, double jabbing on the way in and then slugging away with a hard two-fisted body attack as he gets Rodela pushed to the threads.
