Is Pacquiao Dumb?

Dumbness isnt defined by college attendance.

 

Feisty one, aren't we? I have Asian friends who once didn't speak a word of English but after a year or two could communicate with me quite sufficiently. Don't tell me it isn't possible because I won't buy it. Besides, is English not spoken in the PI? Stop being so damn defensive. If you can't pick up on someone's character and intelligence level based on their ideas (not words) then maybe you need to take a look in the mirror.

Pac appears to be a slow person based on what he presents in interviews. It has little to do with language barrier. My Chinese friend barely speaks English but can tell me an interesting story with little or no pause in his speech. Pac can barely form a paragraph. Ask him a question and he'll give you a maximum of 2 or 3 sentences. It's not because he has a hard time translating. In fact he speaks good English. It's his lack of wit that sticks out like a sore thumb. He seems dumb. Not caveman dumb. But dumb as in Paris Hilton or typical junior high school dropout level. I'm open to changing my opinion about him just in case he shocks the hell out of me one day. But for now he is not considered a very sharp tool in the box.

And I couldn't ****in care less about what you think of me. Besides, this is a discussion about M. Pacquiao, not me. So don't make this out to be some sort of childish insult war.

OK, so he is slow-minded. WTF does that make you and your family? Remember, he has achieved more than you and your family ever will in a billion years.

Let me rephrase that. You dont become best paid athlete, congressman, global celebrity and rockstar by being dumb.

 

There is a big difference between learning a language in your own language group (Germanic - Latin / Indo - European) and learning one from an entirely different tree. Completely different structure, principles and pronunciation shapes. You have to adjust your way of thinking as well as speaking.
Pac deserves alot of credit for speaking English as well as he does.

 

He is lucid in "many" Philippine languages(tagalog,Cebuano,Ilongo, etc..). However, he is not a good communicator in all of those languages. Basic English is taught in the elementary but he did not even finish it formally. He learned most of his english while based in the US.

Seriously, the world is about the survival of the smartest. The dumb move down the foodchain and eventually get extinct.

Come on, comparing Mayweather to tyson in terms of intelligence is like comparing Volga to the newest ferrari. Tyson was always lucid and coherent when he spoke, now he even uses these self-invented deep universal thoughts which come out from life's experience.
