Richie Woodhall is a top commentator. His analysis of fighters is spot on. The fight was close (as Richie scored it), but hardly a robbery. Simpson should have rendered the scorecards meaningless by stopping his man when he had the chance.
yeah mate......the haye vs valuev fight drove me over the edge..... i had haye well up and jim was ****ing miles off the silly twat. **** WATT OFF SKY!:good
Woodhall was shocking on the night mate, there was a middle round that John was winning clearly and towards the end Woodhall states "close round that, I think Simpson nicks that one!" as for the 10-8 round get to ****. How can he or anyone score it 10-8, yes Smith won the round clearly but Simpson was still fighting back, if it was something like round 10 Khan-Maidana then ok I could understand it but Simspon was still throwing, still in the fight :-(
I think it wasnt for mr terrys ludicrous judging this wouldnt be such an issue. In a close fight like that it could always go either way although i thought it was a clear simpson win i would say a rematch but itll likely go the same way as the first two and john will probably go crazy if he gets robbed 3 times against the same lad
100% agree with you Billy, his commentary was so bias to Smith it was unbelievable, any time John got some good punches in he hardly mentioned it and Smith lands 1 and then hugs and he was raving about it, it was 100% biased commentary all the way through the fight for Smith... Just gutted John didn't land that wee bit extra in the 8th round when he had Swifty there for the knockdown!! Is it true John is now contemplating Super Bantamweight?
I know for a fact that Richie doesn't 'do the internet' but someone will pass the message on, no doubt. I think he's a great commentator and analyst.
he is a good analyst and I thought he was a good commentator, but that has been two shocking night commentary from him in the last few weeks.
LISTEN.could u imagine if the fight was in glasgow withe 3 scottish judges, scottish ref and 2 scottish commentators and it was close:dealOUTCRY
Richie has just landed a cushy job as one of Sky's commentators - is anyone seriously suggesting that he was purposefully biased? Bull**** - he just scored it slightly differently to the majority!! Main reason for uproar is T O'Connor - without his scorecard there would be much less outrage
When i read one of the most mild mannered posters on the dial and a fellow Woodhall fan (Mandanda) was foaming at the mouth and spitting feathers about this then i knew something was up. I'm really dissapointed in Richie, if this is true (i watched the fight on mute). I'm a big fan and i think he's by far the best co-commentator and analyst we have and it's not like him to be so biased and out of sync. Having said that, lets not go overboard here. Anyone can have a shocker. And after all his scorecard wasn't too bad.
It was a good fight that isn't getting it's due crediting because of one judge. Imo they won 6 rounds each, if smith gets 10-8 for the first he wins the fight. I personally had it a draw but I noted that 1 judge had it 114-113 so perhaps he also gave round 1 as a 10-8. The crazy thing about boxing is how subjective it is; simpson could have performed exactly the same fight infront of 3 other men and taken a majority decision himself and still bed in line for a title shot. These two could fight 5 more times and we'd probably see 5 more close fights, there is nothing separating them. Will smith give simpson another shot? Not unless the bbboc orders it imo. The silly thing is, simpson is still clearly the best in britain but I can imagine smith seeing it as a backward step now and moving on.
I remember when you gave Richie a bollocking for his commentary on Kotelnik-Rees fights Maybe Rochie has his favourites and it makes him a tad unprofessional at times
