    :rofl

Yeah, but I'm like Herol Graham ...... there's a small chance you could "Julian Jackson" me, but chances are you'll miss and miss and miss, and get more and more frustrated.

Well, I was going to say Baer, but then I realized there was a large, rusty spike embedded in the middle of my forehead, going about three inches deep. I pulled it out and now I think Jimmy Young takes both of them out in the second round, then gets destroyed by Quarry.

The best fighter Tyson beat ? Berbick ? Ruddock ? Tucker ?

Baer and Schmeling were a fair bit better than that. IMO.

Tyson really did well with big slower opponents without the workrate to keep him off

Tyson would knock his block off.

  7. i pick a prime tyson, but if some guy think that it would be a picnic then he is stupid. if frank bruno or tunny tucker could hurt tyson, max baer had the power to knock out tyson. tyson was more complete, without doubt tyson was better fighter but if baer hits him with a clean right hand then it is over.

I would pay just to see the press conference!

There are three key reasons why Joe Louis was so effective against Max Baer:

    1. He focused on systematic counterpunching throughout the fight.

    2. He did not take a single step forward unless he had to.

    3. He never lost his composure when Baer roughed him up.

Tyson would default on all three counts.

Yes he would likley win, but it would be the hardest fight of his career.

Baer has a shitty difense. He lost to Luis, would lost to Tyson, too.

Wow! I have missed this for about 3 years now! Where has Pea gone anyway??? I miss him around here!

Thanks for the compliment, I still think Frazier beats Tyson every day of the week and twice on Sunday!...And I don't think I have Tyson hate, certainly not today although it could have been taken that way years ago. It was more of an extreme knee jerk reaction to his unabashed huggers than outright dislike or anything comprable. I believe I have become much less biased in my opinion or comments of him and actually think quite highly of him especially in the 86 (Ferguson) range through Holmes/Spinks.

Alot of people are regurgitating the stand up to the bully myth....This thought process was not really seen as the way to beat Tyson untill post Rooney, when his head movement became non-existant and his defense rather porus.

A strong jab, with good lateral movement ala Tucker was seen as the best approach to beat Tyson.

There might be a little truth in both approaches, but it will not just be acomplished by anyone....it would take someone real special, while having a real special night!

Baer was good...but not good enough for this task!

    Tyson by KO, early.

Tyson was a fast starter, faster than Louis who stopped Baer in 4. Only Lou Nova and Louis stopped Baer in 81 pro fights but Tyson would as well. Tyson also had 15 solid Lbs. on Louis and could take a punch better.

Tyson was faster, had better footwork, better defense, was more accurate. and was just better overall.

Baer wouldn't bring anything Tyson hasn't seen.

Baer was shorter and had a slightly shorter reach than Mitch Green, James Smith, Tony Tucker, and others. He was also lighter than these guys.

Baer could punch but was wasn't real quick or accurate. Baer was far from a slick boxer. What does Baer really have that should worry Tyson?

My problem with Max on tape is that he is not very accurate and invests way too much in his right hand, often ending off-balance and wide open. Unless he connects early (and no one stops Tyson early) he has little chance of staying in this one. Furthermore, Max was absolutely intimidated by Louis. Tyson would similarly have him cowering in the dressing room.
