    Michael Rosenthal of The Ring reports that the California State Athletic Commission has blinked first, appointing a new referee after strong protests from Arthur Abrahamand promoter Sauerland Event and Abraham's refusal to leave Germany.

    Puerto Rican referee Luis Pabon will officiate the bout. The ringside judges will be James Jen Kin (California), Ingel Barrabas (Germany) and Stanley Christodoulou (South Africa).

    Pabon is a veteran of the referee game, and has in the past been the third man in the ring for several notable fights. A few recent notables: Amir Khan-Paul McCloskey, Luis Concepcion-Hernan Marquez, David Haye-Audley Harrison, Felix Sturm-Giovanni Lorenzo, Juan Manuel Lopez-Bernabe Concepcion, and Nikolai Valuev-Evander Holyfield. He's worked all over the world, as you can tell, and is a perfectly suitable referee for this level of fight.

    The best news is the fight will now go on as scheduled, meaning that the Super Six World Boxing Classic is still in full swing.

    Is it the same ref that warned David Haye and Audley Harrion to start fighting or else? If so it's good news, maybe he'll warn Ward to start using legal moves.

    Is Ward ever gonna have a fight without something getting in the way and outside of his hometown?

    Still the fight is in America not overseas. ALL of the fighters in the supersix traveled to make fights, only Ward refuses to. It's getting obvious now.

    The tourney was tailor made for Ward, I thought it was obvious by now...

    I hope Froch upsets him in the final, if he gets past an indestructible old man.

    Carson (Los Angeles) is about 400 miles south of Ward's hometown.

    Go to a Dodgers game wearing a Giants jersey and see if you feel at home :good

    I agree with those you say he needs to fight outside the USA :thumbsup

    Good. Not because this is a great competitive match-up, but because the S6 has had enough detours.

    The result in this one is inevitable.

    Ward would beat Abraham anywhere under any circumstances. Ward would beat him in Germany, with 8oz gloves, with any referee in the world.

    Abraham would not could not beat him in the rain. Not in the dark. Not on a train. He would not beat him here or there, he has no chance anywhere. :good

    If Ward sticks and moves then AA has no chance. If he elects to come in recklessly like his last few fights than AA does have a chance but he's not a puncher known to throw short punches. Even coming in, Ward could roll the wild punches and outwork AA in the inside. Interesting fight but I'm still displeased that Ward is the only one of the S6 not to fight out of his country. Even a neutral country would be fine but he's getting spoonfed.

    The Bika fight wasn't part of the super six, so it's irrelevant.

    Where would you have placed Ward/Green? In Germany? The only place it was ever going to make money was in Oakland. Green has no fan base at all, and he would have got his ass whipped no matter where they fought.

    The only one I don't like is the Abraham fight. He should be made at the very least to leave California. Hell even Vegas would be better, and it's only a few hours from LA.

    Who cares, Froch just showed how limited Abraham is.

    Abraham will lose anywhere at any time, he is just a German hype with puncher's chance.

    I'd agree with you if a neutral location would even matter in this instance...but it doesn't. :yep

    If Abraham wins, it's by disqualification (which I guess explains why he'd want veto power on the ref).

    Pretty sure most people mean "Team Ward"...

    SO you should say...Team Ward...

    Ward is a pro fighter and like any other one, he'll fight where they tell him to.
