you're an idiot. english is not his main language so basically he is hearing it in english, translating it into his own language in his head, and then giving a response in english. thats how it works
Clearly you are a hater. You can't say someone is an idiot and not hate the guy. As Naz Richardson say, It's impossible not to like the him unless you hate him. Pac is trying his very best to talk English despite him having a very poor educational background and wasn't able to finish high school. The guys first English line when he won against Lelo Ledwaba was "Ay labyo pelipens" ( I Love you Philippines) for ****'s sake. You should commend Pac for trying instead of calling him an idiot atschatschatsch ... Pac's improvement is very good when u factor his education. Why don't you ask Mab JMM or Erik to talk English or even Canelo :-(
*****s are so pathetic, ran out of bad things to say about Pacquiao. Now they are questioning Pacquiao's intelligence. You know who I think is really dumb? Mayweather for getting himself in trouble all the time by doing dumb things, thinks that he can get away with not paying his taxes, thinks that being undefeated makes you the greatest fighter, thinks that boxing fans will not figure out that he is been avoiding fighters that has the chance to beat him, The guy is dumb as hell.
pac thinks in his native language. that means he has to translate the question from english as well as translate his answer back to english. that's why a lot is lost in those translations.
I've asked my wife this question. I'm half flip and only barely learning tagalog but I've asked her how he comes across in his native language and obviously if you watch interviews of him, he has no problem just sort of speaking. But when it comes to speaking English, for Filipinos who don't know it completely second nature fluently, they have to think about it more and they're very careful about how they say it. They care more about getting it correct then nailing the exact context, which is why I love when people jump on him for saying something you can take the wrong way. A great example of why they are so careful is an interview a Miss Philippines contestant was giving. They asked her a question and she started messing up her english and speaking in her native tongue, and they BOOED HER. Filipinos are so ****ing catty about people speaking correct english. A real petty breed. So basically, he has to think more about how he sounds and that he gets the words correct, otherwise he WILL be seen as an idiot in the PI.
QOUTED FOR TRUTH :good WHEN SPEAKING IN ENGLISH, I FIND MY ABILITY TO EXPRESS COMPLICATED AND DEEP THOUGHTS TO BE SEVERELY LIMITED. OFTEN, I WOULD SETTLE FOR SIMPLER SENTENCES, AND IN THE PROCESS, THE ESSENCE OF WHAT I'M SUPPOSE TO SAY GETS LOST. WHEREAS WHEN I SPEAK IN TAGALOG, I CAN GET MY WAY AROUND EVERY THOUGHT, I CAN TWIST AND TURN MY IDEAS EASILY WITHOUT FEAR OF GETTING RIDICULED FOR GRAMMATICAL ERRORS, AND I CAN CONVEY AND BREAK DOWN THE MOST COMPLICATED THINGS I THINK OF. SPEAKING IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE IS DIFFICULT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYONE IN THE PHILIPPINES THINKS SO HIGHLY OF THE ABILITY TO SPEAK ENGLISH WHEN SPEAKING IN TAGALOG WOULD BE WAY BETTER AND EFFECTIVE
I've been here in the US since 2000. Although it doesn't trouble me interacting with people, there are times when I have to repeat myself for the words I have trouble pronounciating. My accent doesn't really bother me and they find it funny at times. But when there's other Filipinos around, I always try not to talk too much and limit my words. At times, I sounded more stupid for trying to speak fluent infront of other Filipinos. I believe the thread starter thinks he is smarter than someone who is not fluent in <insert his language here>.
it really is the language barrier. I was at UMC hospital looking for a parking spot. There's this filipina lady who was walking to her car. I rolled down the windows and asked her if she was parked nearby. She replied, "Yes, there are parking spots here and over there."atsch:twisted: I was soo pissed but then I realized, filipinos have a hard time with English. And please remember that English is a hard language to learn. Its even harder to look all 'educated and smart' in front of a television camera that's broadcasted to millions world wide.
She was actually telling you that there's another spot you can park instead of waiting for her to get to her car, start the engine, and do a quick sign of a cross before she leaves. She's thinking way ahead by giving you a better option instead of just answering your question.
