:patschReally? PAC did 700K in PPV buys with Josh and you think he's only gonna do 900K with Shane?:rofl

Do yourself a favor and DON'T BET! Make it a friendly bet b/c you're only setting yourself up to lose.

This fight is gonna do comparable numbers to Floyd vs Shane and the bet that should be made is if it will do just under or just over those numbers.

How so? I haven't seen as much buzz for this fight as Cotto-pac let alone Floyd vs Shane.

Why Mayweather vs Mosley did so well
It was promoted way better than this fight is. It was the 2 best American fighters going at eachother. The number 2 p4p fighter and cash cow against number 3. :bbb

It was the fight to see Mayweather vs a true threat at welterweight. People said Floyd was ducking Mosley and was scared when Msoely entered the ring after the Marquez fight. They were saying how Floyd never faced anybody as strong and powerful as Mosley and he was the second fastest oppoennt he's faced. Also you had the much more etertaining 24/7 and the promoting genius with FLoyd.

Not to mention Mosley was viewd as very dangerous and was coming off the KO of granite chinned Margarito and Mayorga

Matter fact a lot of people said the Mosley fight was going to be tougher than the Pacquiao fight for Floyd. (I was one of them and so was Bob Arum and Roger Mayweather)

You actually know people in real life? Seriously though....I'm hearing just as much buzz for this fight as I heard when Floyd made his comeback with JMM. I think there was more buzz when Floyd stepped up to face his first true WW in Shane, but with CBS and that kind of platform....the buzz is gonna be kicked up full tilt next week...Beleive that.

You mean.....24/7 is HBO's show. Floyd doesn't own, have rights nor created 24/7. He's just been on there more than any other fighter.

Just b/c you haven't seen the buzz doesn't mean it's not "buzzin"! Josh vs PAC has litterally NO marketing at all and PAC was able to pull in 700K in PPV buys.......with Shane and CBS...we'll see that number double easiliy.

Why you don't know anyone in real life?

Sure, just like being at a brand new exciting stadium like Cowboys was supposed to make them do insane PPV numbers.

Fact is margo had an ethnic following and only managed to helpy manny pull 1.15mil. Shane doesn't have no "countrymen".

Aside from Mayweather's achievements in boxing he is the co-founder of HBO 24/7. [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HBO"]HBO[/ame] alongside Mayweather produced a series of countdowns previewing their big pay-per-view fights. These shows are 30 minute specials designed to get undecided and casual fans excited enough to purchase and watch the fights live.

You can predict how many PPVs a fight will do by seeing how hyped people are for the fight.

Mayweather-Oscar had **** ton of hype and broke the PPV records. Cotto-pac had a good amount of hype and did good numbers. Floyd-Mosley was very hyped and did great numbers. pac-marg had decent hype and did good numbers.

Clottey-pac had no marketing and only did 700K, which is low for pac standards. This Mosley-pac fight has more hype than Clottey-pac and less than pac-marg.

Golden boy always promotes their fighters better than Top Rank. They spend more money in way of marketing, but there's not anther fighter under any other promotional banner that is as popular and in demand as PAC.
The fight with Shane and Floyd was definitly EASIER to sell b/c that was the first time Floyd was stepping up to face a true WW and Shane came off his biggest win in a long time 14 months earlier...so it was a great combination.

I agree that PAC vs Shane is a harder sell but the difference here is Manny. Floyd is a good promotional tool b/c he says and does things that will draw the audince in...whether they love or hate him they watch.

But PAC is bringing a WHOLE new demographic to this equation. Floyd couldn't reach beyond a certian audience based on his level of popularity. PAC trumps that and is bringing in more casual sport fans who typcially wouldn't watch boxing based on Manny's accomplishments both inside and outside the ring. PAC vs Shane will do well over 1 mill in PPV buys. Will it beat Shane vs Floyd? I think it will do comparable numbers.

Pacquiao vs Margarito did 1.15 million
Pacquiao vs Cotto did 1.25 million
    Pacquiao vs Hatton did 850,000
    Pacquiao vs Clottey did 700K
Pacquiao vs Oscar did 1.25 million

This fight will not do 1.4 million :verysad
I'll go more in detail if you want me to

Random pointer but are we factoring in Mosley getting dominated a year ago by Mayweather ... will that have a negative effect on the buy rate for Pac-Mosley? not hating, just would like some objectivity because take the example below (this is hypothetically speaking)

I don't buy PPV's as is, but if I were a casual viewer of boxing and happened to see Mosley/Mayweather live ... Mosley got dominated. He started strong but after the second round on the fight became very one sided. Granted that was a year ago, but Shane's on the wrong side of 39 and not getting any younger

considering how poorly Mosley did last year vs an Elite fighter, why would I waste my time this time to see Mosley on PPV again?

in the eyes of a casual fan who saw Mosley get beaten easily by Floyd ... doesn't Mosley-Pacquiao look like a gigantic mismatch on paper? And is that really worth paying $50 plus to see

I tend to agree. Great for boxing that it's getting all the attention, but I wish it would be for a fight worth a damn .. Mosley's being recycled as an opponent

The venue does little boost PPV numbers...the venue helps in boosting gate numbers.

Shane is by far a bigger name in boxing than Marg and a lot of folks were turned off by Marg fighting period. It definilty hurt the numbers with the fact that Marg had that whole hand wrap situation going on.
I wasn't expecting the nubmers to be that high to be honest and a lot of other folks weren't either.

Floyd produces 24/7 is big! Didn't know that but I'm glad he was able to make some paper off of the idea that HBO ran with.

I'm willing to bet it does at least 1.4 million. What you fail to realize is PAC's stock has sky rocketed over the last year which will be necessary in evaluating what the numbers will do next week.
