No, I was shopping at the mall and all I see is Pac's face in sporting stores like Champs and niketown.

Only time I see floyd is when he's facing a court case.

so why is this non american little filipino being marketed everywhere I go?:yep

"She’s already had some success. She has landed an endorsement deal for Pacquiao with State Street Produce. Later this year, it will rename its high-end produce line “Pacquiao Produce” and Pacquiao’s image will appear on millions of bags of snap peas, cauliflower, broccoli and the like in grocery stores around the country."

    Please dont...

If this fight does 1.5 million buys, then we'll never see a megastar in a meaningful fight ever again. It'll just prove to promoters and fighters that once they reach a certain status, boxing fans will shell out any amount to see them against anybody.
This fight is a sham and boxing fans are proving themselves the biggest idiot demographic in sports. Easy, easy marks for the crooks that run the sport.

It dilutes the image.. think of something like the Ferrari logo branded on a toothpaste bottle.

pac's cashing in on his fame. I don't see why his face on a bag of frozen Peas in the grocery store is going to change things.

If that's all you got out of my post, then you're too stupid to bother explaining to again.
And that pretty much proves my point.

You guys arguing that "X" fight was better promoted or other are missing the point. Boxing was ****ing huge in the 80s, SRL, Hearns, Tyson. I remember them days of watching those greats on TV as a kid. It's true, we lost that as HBO/ST and their PPV machines took over. I'm totally psyched to read that TR is pushing to get Boxing back on national TV. It's good for everyone involved and interested in Boxing.

I know most of the US already have basic cable TV. What's the advantage of this fight being marketed by a free TV channel when most already got cable, and nobody uses rabbit ear antennas anymore?

How does the marketing for this fight look like in your area of the US?

How about Boxing making more money because viewership just jumped from 30mil to 115mil. More advertisers = NBA/NFL sized money. How about low level boxers making a real income? There will be more money because there is more value to advertisers.

And how about not having to pay 50/60 bucks PPV all the time?

I don't think CBS actually will show this fight on CBS free TV, right?

It will still be on cable, on their SHOWTIME channel.

How much has this shift to CBS lowered the PPV rate for this fight?
