Don't totally agree with that but I've seen guys tagged on the chin and if not in great condition, they may not have gotten up and continued. But I'm talking about guys with what is considered good chins. If the fighters chin is made of the finest china and they get smacked a good lick, it's debatable if conditioning will help them much. So I'm sitting on the fence on this one with a yes and no answer.
Why would your cardio level have anything to do with how hard you can get hit? You get hit in the right place (not even particularly hard) it's lights out, however conditioned you are.
Somewhat agree. The tiring and fatigue of your neck and shoulder muscles and posture due to exaustion could make you more likely to get KO'd.
I'd say its the other way around sort of. The more fatigued you are, the likelier you are to get KO'd. A well-conditioned glass chin is still glass.
That's different to what the OP asked. Being able to keep your guard up and good posture is about about stamina, but it doesn't directly affect your ability to take a punch.
It can't improve your chin but it can improve your ability to take a punch Or a lot of good punches. Or to recover from the shots faster. A punch that might put you down when you're tired often wouldn't even effect you when you're fresh.
Yes that's what I mean. The reason I asked this question was because I was sparring somebody the other day who had some decent power but his shots never really seemed to effect me. Before I went in the ring to spar though I had already done a lot of heavy bag work, so I was pretty tired. I went a couple of rounds and by the end of the third round I took a right hand to the head and it dazed me like crazy. It wasn't enough to knock me out but I definitely felt it more than I usually did. My coach saw that I was dazed and took me out of the ring. So hence the question, does stamina effect your chin?
in that sense id say yes, if your brains short on oxyegen and your not breathing steaidly your going to be dazed longer. your still going to be just as dazed from the hit reguardless but your going to be able to recover and get your hands back up faster with a steadier calm breath. good post.
I think so, yes. If you are significantly fatigued, your postural (core and neck) muscles buckle more after a big hit.
Disagree, but I think it does have something to do with it. Stamina lets you focus on the task (oxygenation). So more stamina (efficient oxygen exchange) means you are hit less leading to a better "chin". Also, if your body isn't screaming bloody murder at you in a crisis, you can focus on getting yourself together instead of embracing the darkness (quitting).
