Anybody know how much a Lonsdale belt goes for at auction? I daresay sadly that there are a few of them about with the financial difficulties fighters get themselves into
sure i heard they used to be made out of 24 carat gold, aint sure if this is true but i am sure i read this some, where as for how much one would cost i aint got a clue ?
wasn't it alan minter who said he dosent have his lonsdale belt on show coz its worth alot of money and worried burglers might tea-leaf it. he keeps it locked away.
all put together as well there aint much made in britain theses days but what is tends to be quality over quantity
Randy Turpin's Lonsdale belt went for £23k. Obviously the price would vary depending on the fighter, the age of the belt and those at auction bidding on it. With this being Turpin's belt, then I wouldn't expect many more belts being £25k+
How many fighters have owned a belt outright i wonder ie how many are out there :think I guess one of Henry Coopers would probably be most expensive
He flogged them but remember reading that he felt it was the wrong type of auction and he could of got more.
Yes he did nowadays you only get one however many times you defend it. When i make my millions i will be going big into boxing memorabilia :deal
