Is Manny the Greatest Fighter who Ever Lived?

Greatest of this generation no doubt.
But GOAT is rather far fetched.

If he beats Sergio Martinez into a bloody pulp and then KO's SM, JMM (just so those fan boys will finally shut up) and finally FMJ then you just might have a strong case for having him in the top10.

 

Why do they say greatest who ever lived ? You can't be a great fighter if you never lived.

Today's generation revere SRR even if most of them have not seen SRR actually fight except for some obscure incomplete footages.

200 years from now, it would probably be Pacquiao. Who knows? But everybody will equate Gayweather as theducker, or some fighter who could have been great except that he settled to be just ordinary.

 

Strong argument for greatest of this era, but of all time? I say no

 

you cannot say no since you cannot live all time

unless pac dies and that is the time pac can be called the Greatest Fighter who ever lived unless someone will get more belts and get hold more division pac did, then pac can still be remembered as one of the Greatest Figher who ever lived.

unless you can say that the greatest fighter who fights and does not care for the belt at all, or cheats the weight, or fights once a year can be called one, then pac is even greater than that man/woman a.k.a "fraud duckweather"

 

If we look past the smoke and mirrors he has a good claim of being a great.

He has won the lineal championship in 4 weightclasses (altho 2 are new weights, no one in history has won lineal championships from flyweight to welterweight) he is a couple of fights from winning it in a 5th weightclass (mosley and ortiz)

He wasn't dominant at super bantam because he didn't beat larios there. He wasn't dominant at lightweight because he didn't beat jmm there.

I feel if he retired after beating mosley he'd have done enough to make any respectable top 20 list.

To be the goat i'd say the following should happen

1. Beat ortiz at 147
2. Beat bradley at 140
3. Beat jmm(assuming he is still champ) at 135
4. Beat alvarez/cotto(whoever is number 1) at 154
5. Beat martinez at 160
6. Beat the s6 winner.

If he achieved all that he'd almost certainly be the goat. If he achieved half he'd almost certainly be top 10.

His one problem is the lack of truly elite opposition compared to other atg's, but you can only do what's available in your era and beating mab, em, jmm, is beating the best of his era.

Floyd is meaningless now. He's unranked, inactive and old.

To answer the ts, the answer is we won't know until he retires.

He is the best if not the best of my era, but no way greatest who ever lived.

Catchweights, fighting weight drained opponents and taking on fighters on the decline has removed any chance of him getting anywhere near that status.

But i take nothing away from him, he is up there.

 

Regarding era (19997-2012) i'd say the only fighter who rivals pac for greatness throughout the era is hopkins and that is purely because of longevity.

Hopkins has designs on beating pascal, dawson and bute. If he does this pac will have to do something pretty impressive to keep up.

PAC hasn't beaten anyone in his career who hadn't already been beaten. He has never faced what can be described as an unmovable object, some of the greatest fighters in history have.

PAC don't extra points for fighting in all these new weightclasses which literally are separated by 2 pounds.
