Does anyone think Macklin can beat Sturm? Does anyone hope so?

I dislike sturm, its sad how he got robbed vs oscar but im tired of the excuse, its not fair to go on a run for years fighting easy opposition in Germany avoiding all the top guys.
I hope he loses but I think he will win.

 

It depends if Macklin can raise his game, because he is going to need to in order to dethrone Sturm. Macklin is a very strong and powerful fighter - moreso that Sturm. He has decent enough skills but I sometimes worry that he will has no plan B if he becomes unstuck. Personally, I think he gives a good account of himself but is outboxed in larges patches of the contest and looses a decision (116 -112).

 

Outboxed.......... will be a decent effort but it's about levels, and sturm is simply better.

 

martinez should attend this fight and challenge the winner in the ring.

 

This is better then Sato the japanese middleweight he fought, that was truely embaresring

I have never seen the facination with Macklin.
Sturm on the other hand looked unlucky against Oscar and has a very good MW resume.
I wouldnt pick Macklin against many world class MWs

 

In hindsight Sturm deserved to get robbed against DLH when you see how ridiculous he shelters his title. A belt on Sturm is wasted.

He'll beat Macklin, though. Skill-wise he's fine and his jab is the closest thing you'll find to a Wlad jab right now and that alone requires serious skill to get past. I'm not writing Macklin off as he's clearly a way more game opponent than Sturm's last "challenges" but one gotta admit he know's how to execute a game plan and he truly is dedicated as ****.

We need Martinez - Sturm asap.

 

Ya know -- back when Pavlik, Abraham, and Sturm all held titles at 160 I said many times, "Sturm is the best pure boxer of the three." I thought Pavlik and/or Abraham would catch up to Sturm, and stop him late in the fight, but either one would have had to work his ass off to get it done.

Now, to be fair to Felix, he was working a deal with Pavlik at one point, but HBO gave such a pathetic low-ball figure for the fight that both men lost interest very quickly.

Anyway, the main beef I have with Sturm is that he is a very good fighter, but has been ridiculously reticent to prove it. He just won't fight other elite level opponents.

As far as Sturm/Macklin I would love to see Macklin win. I think he would be a true fighting champion. His title reign may not last long, but he impresses me as the type of guy who would rather go out on his shield than duck, dodge, and fiddle-**** around. However, at the end of the day, I think Sturm will win a boring UD by using jab and move, jab and clinch tactics.

 

not sure whats worse, sturms opponents...or the sturms opponents OPPONENTS
macklins last 11 fights ..pointless naming the names...just look at their rankings

Didnt Sturm offer a fight to Pavlik and got priced out by Pavlik who said HBO should pay more or was that Abraham

And Martinez is not after Sturm he is looking for a PPV blockbuster type fight with dollar signs hes gonna retire soon Sturm is a big resume builder but in no way shape or form a money fight

yes Sturm has fought relatively weak opposition but I dont think he really ducked Taylor or Pavlik if anything they probably never even considered fighting him because it wasnt interesting to the American public
