I know that anyone can get caught and Ko'd in a fight but when you consider Hagler's chin of iron, does any middleweight in history realisitically have a genuine shot of knocking out Marvin?

Honestly, I'd say no. He got clocked consistently by tested punchers and I'd say there would be a few MW's that would beat him but not KO him. not even stop him.

If Ketchel, Fitzsimmons, Monzon, or Langford throws the right punch, sure.

    Same with LaMotta.

A peaking Hearns zeroed in with one of the greatest weapons in the history of boxing -the "Hearns' Right." He did it in the first round and what happened? Hagler was -stunned- for 5 seconds. Nothing more.

Any mortal can indeed get knocked out, but Hagler has my vote as the least likely among all middleweights -and perhaps mortals- to get knocked out.

No, it would take a LHW to do it

Yeah, but Hearns wasn't a natural MW. Nor an accomplished one. Not necessarily the best benchmark, but yeah he could hit. Replace him with one of the guys who carried their murder up to LHW and up, maybe it's a different story?

I don't think Monzon would have frontlined the type of tnt necessary to deck, much less stop Marvin. I think he would have beaten Hagler, but by decision, and though his right would have gotten hagler's respect, it wouldn't have threatened to put Marvin on the deck. Maybe a flush, freak shot by Julian Jackson may have done it...but that's not even a cinch. Poor JJ would have have the gray matter beat out of his skull by Hagler before anything like that would happen.

And lest he be forgotten, Freddie Steele could really hit. He flattened tough Ceferino Garcia TWICE.
