I thought Ricky was dead, the ferocity of the punch and the way his seemingly lifeless body hit the canvas will live with me forever. I was in a state of shock.

I actually joked with my brother that manny was on steroids, but that is all it was, .. a joke.

Pac only had 1 fight at 135 and 1 fight at 140, arguably the divisions where he was at the absolute apex of his entire career.

 

hatton only listened to beard because mayweather was ****ing around and not turning up on time for training. mayweather also turned up in the dressing room an hour before the fight and this pissed ricky off. bad preparation for a fight of that magnitude.

 

How? What pride? There's very little pride in not having the skill to listen to your corner and abandon everything you had been doing in the gym to prepare for the fight. Like Floyd Sr. told him, " if you go back to doing the same ol ****, Manny gonna KO yo ass!" And that's exactly what Rickey did and that's exactly what happened!

 

I think Hatton was on the slide after he peaked against Zoo, but that the Mayweather KO was the final nail in his coffin.

I felt Hatton looked shop worn in his comeback fight against Lazcano, infact he even got hurt in the fight, and to me, was showing all the tell signs of a shot fighter (poor balance)

People pointed to the Malignaggi performance to suggest he still had a lot to offer, but if I recall, Hatton got out-jabbed in the 1st round against Malignaggi? Now I always got the impression Hatton reverted back to his old style once he knew he couldn't compete with Malignaggi trying to employ what Sr had been teaching him, and so went back to what he'd always done. To me it was the same old Hatton against Paulie, so whilst I didn't expect Hatton to get beaten so decisively(against Manny), in retrospect it doesn't surprise me that Manny was able to devastate him in that way, cause based on the Lazcano fight, I think you could see his punch resistance had deteriorated, that he was a lil shop worn physically.

Hang on a damn minute. Hatton said that before he was knocked out he was (in his words) "winning the second round by a country mile", so Rickys view is good enough for me, premature stoppage.

 

The wrong gameplan from Hatton here. None of his trademark body punching to be seen and from what I understand, not a good training camp either.

His head wasn't in the right place and he wasn't prepared enough. He was on the slide too at that point. Still a great victory for Pacquaio though.

 

Awesome performance from Manny, no doubt.

But I find it hard to respect Hatton. He was a good - albeit not elite - fighter, who squandered his talent through his lifestyle choices. Stupid move when your body is your career.

Although I guess he got some pretty nice paydays, so whatever.

 

I don't buy this **** at all, Manny had the perfect style and gameplan to beat ricky. I always predicted that this was gonna be a early KO. It doesn't matter what gameplan or what version of Ricky would have showed up, it's the same result. People should look at what Manny was doing to control ricky and not how "bad" Ricky was looking. Hatton was just being Hatton, and Pcquiao was countering his ass with right hooks from the opening bell. Freddy Roach studied Hatton's bad habbits and had the perfect gameplan.
