Does anyone think Macklin can beat Sturm? Does anyone hope so?

Pavlik and Sturm tried to make a deal, and HBO made an offer. Pavlik threw a fit about the money, and he had every right to. HBO offered $2 million TOTAL for a middleweight title unification fight. A 50/50 split would give each fighter $1 million grand total before expenses or taxes. Sturm makes more than that beating up grocery clerks in Germany, and Pavlik made more fighting Rubio on an independent Top Rank PPV. HBO's "offer" was an insult to both fighters, and both quickly lost interest.

At the time I really thought HBO committed a major **** up. Pavlik/Sturm would not have gotten big TV ratings, but it was a good opportunity for HBO to make progress building KP into a guy who could do big TV ratings.

I'm not really interested in watching Sturm, as he tends not to face stiff competition most of the time, which is why I dont know that much about him outside of the DLH fight, that said, I seem to remember Macklin looking mediocre against Geard Ajetovic, admittedly a few fights ago, but when you think about his last fight, and how much he got hit, it doesn't bode well for him imo.

Macklin's face after his last fight......

I hope that Macklin wins, but hes up against it. I dont think he can outbox Sturm and hes fighting in Sturms hometown anyways, so a decision is out of the question. I think Macklin will have to knock Felix out to win. I think Sturm comes away with a ud win, hes too good a boxer and he will land with his jab consistently on Macklin, but it will be a competitive fight. Im thinking scores of 116-112, around that area.

That was the first time in his career that Macklin went 12 rounds, I also heard he had a flu a few weeks before fighting Varon. He gasse pretty bad in the last couple of rounds. I think he will come in in better condition against Sturm though.

Yeah.. I think Sturm is a pretty decent fighter too.. great for any resume.. just don't like how his team's been operating... the KP fight I had no idea about... but that still doesn't explain why he hasn't faced anyone relative as of late... he should of at least challenged Dzindiruk like Martinez did.. that would have been interesting.. to me anyway
