If Rocky Marciano is so overrated, why has nobody else done what he did?

Just like my bro Nay_sayer said...Ali's win over George Foreman easily eclipses anything Marciano ever did.

Ali beat a prime 32 year old Liston in the FIRST fight.
Ali beat a prime 25 year old George Foreman. Ali was 33 when he did so.
People who dislike Ali always point out that Ali lost to Spinks, well Ali was nearly 37 years years old when he fought the 26 year old Spinks and already showing advanced signs of declining health such as slow and slurred speech AND he came back to beat Spinks to get his title back in a rematch. To do that at 37 with declined health says even more about Ali.

Ali beat the BEST of the BEST in the BEST era of boxing but even you take out all those victories and just leave his win against Foreman, that alone beats out anything Marciano did in his misleading 49-0 record.

    Marciano's best opposition

    Joe Louis- 37 years old
    Archie Moore- 41 years old
Joe Jersey Walcott- 39 years old,
Ezzard Charles- 33 years old (past his prime)

Louis gave Marciano a tough fight in 8 rounds
Moore floored Marciano in the 2nd
Walcott destroyed Marciano in the first fight over 13 rounds before the KO
It is believed Charles was robbed in the first fight against Marciano and severely cut Marciano in the 2nd fight.

A man named Ted Lowry with a record of 66 wins and 67 losses took him the distance in 2 fights and in one of those fights it is well documented that he was clearly robbed against Marciano. This being a man with more losses than wins. Marciano simply didn't face any true world class fighter in his time. Maybe he did face a few but they were all old and past their prime.

Marciano is a thing to watch in boxing.

Regardless of the opposition, you could see that he has the speed and power, the skill, guile and cunning, and the heart of a champion. He fights non-stop for ****ing 15 rounds. And he got the chin to boot too. Even in today's boxing era, he would be a force to be reckon with.

Archie Moore is probably Marciano's best win - and Moore was an ole man coming up from light heavy. Says everything you need to know about Marciano's record.

Now that I think about it, Tyson's win over Spinks is probably a better win than anything on Marciano's record.

Marciano worked extremely hard to get where he did, he trained harder than any of his opponents could ever have dreamed of!
