Ah, there we go. :good I only threw Evans in there due to running out of boxers with the appellation and didn't want to leave it at nine :yep (and the OP did leave it open by using the nondescript term "fighters"). **** Evans. Costner rounds out my ten. :thumbsup
Regardless of what happens Saturday.. Shane deserves it, he isnt an elite atg like Robinson,Leonard but he is an ATG IMO.. At one time he was pfp #1, and was the near the top of most pfp list from the mid to late 90s until just a few years ago.
I love Shane and yeah he's an ATG...but as far as his 'powerboxing' style being "sweet as sugar", like SRL and SRR...I don't know...
As great as Shane was, he is a notch below all-time great. He made 8 lightweight title defenses, but he never unified. His biggest wins at 147 and 154 were against a guy who also moved up from lightweight.
Just watching his dominance at the weight - all of which is documented on video - is enough to suggest that h2h he's one of the most destructive forces of nature ever at 135, though...even if he does lack the longevity and signature wins that would ordinarily earn all time greatness. For me, being called "Sugar" isn't just about being great. It's a style thing, too. For instance, Greb is undeniably a great but "Sugar Harry" rings false. :yep
and of course there is a fighter who briefly held the british super-featherweight tittle sugar gibiliru
