Initially most of us here thought there was'nt a matchup that GBP could counter Arums offer to JMM of a guarantee of 5 million +PPV upside.

Apparently GBP is brewing up and thinking about matching that offer to Marquez with a fight with Canelo Alvarez at 147 lbs.

The rules in Marquez' existing contract with GBP is that GBP has the right to match any offer by another promoter.

......so if Arum wants Marquez for Pacquiao, it looks like now that the only way that he would be able to legally bring Marquez aboard TOP Rank promotions is to offer the Pacquiao fight to Marquez but at 140 lbs.

Here's the thing, currently Arum's offer to Marquez is for 5 million guarantee for a fight with Pacquiao at 147 lbs.
........GBP has a 147 lbs fighter he can match Marquez up with and offer the same 5 million, Canelo Alvarez.

......now, if Arum offered Marquez the Pacquiao fight at 140 lbs....GBP does'nt have a 140 lbs fighter that can generate enough interest to guarantee Marquez 5 million against.

This is going to get interesting, because now Arum may be forced to ask Pacroid to come down to 140 lbs to fight Marquez.......a situation that turns up roses for Marquez.:yep

Fight fans may end up getting the fair JMM-Pac 3 fight at 140 lbs they've been asking for!

Interesting analysis. However, Pac beats JMM again no matter what division they both are going to fight against each other. 140 or 147 doesn't matter.

Lol at Divac. JMM choosing to fight Canelo only means he really wants none of Pac since his life and death fights at 135 and against floyd, and was only using Pac to hype himself

I might even pick a fat non-training camp old Marquez to beat the Ginger

JMM-Canelo won't even sell as a PPV. Pac-JMM could give JMM $7M with the PPV buys plus a chance to beat an ATG and win his fourth belt at welterweight, outrank Morales and MAB in the list of Mexican legends.

meanwhile, beating Canelo means... Canelo who?

One . . . JMM vs Canelo would not sell good in a PPV fight. So GBP is playing with fire if they made a guaranteed $5 Mil offer for JMM for that fight.

Two . . . how good is JMM at 147? Is he 100% sure he can beat Canelo at 147?

JMM needs to make a smart decision.

for Manny sake, please make the fight @140

there is no way JMM could beat pacquiao in anyweight right now
manny has stated that he could fight JMM @140
so if Arum or Roach insist on @147, thats ****ed
even @140 it wont be competitive anymore
