I thi k Kearney is trying to set up a Melbourne type structure with parra. And just needs the key positions to build a good platform to work from. They have fullback covered, but that's about it. I read that parra ended up offering sandow 500 a season. If true, that's absolutely insane cash for a relatively unproven work in progress. Parras current state reminds me of souths in 06 when we threw a motza at anasta, and orford, only to end up with Ben rogers and the one season wonder gualovau.
You can't set up a Melbourne type team, without having 5 stars, and 8 highly consistent players. Parra might play better if they stopped playing safe all the time. Kearney just needs to man up and stop trying to buy his solution and just work with the players he has like all the other clubs. You can't just expect a team of middle road players to be the best squad week in - week out by changing the way they play.
The thing is, even though kearneys on a 3 year contract, he has until next season to get results. There has already been a mass exodus of players gone and he really needs to get some quality there for next season otherwise he'll be shown the door. He has no choice but to pay overs for players.
True, but the thing is, there's a real lack of halfbacks out there, and none really coming up through the ranks. Manly seem to do a good job producing halves. Cherry Evans is looking the goods for them.
You want halves, any half from Canterbury are great really. They have produced some of the best halves in the last 15 years.
You guys might end up with Craig wing. There's murmurs going round that he's half looking at a return to the nrl. Although 32, he still looks very fit.
