Argument at work today - How far would Larry Corowa beat David Mead by in a race over 100 metres both carrying a footy and in full football kit .

Thanks Tekes for that , Corowas got him well covered then . Corowa beat Steve Proudlock [Stawell gift winner that year] up the Wentworth Park dogtrack over 100 metres in 10.47 seconds in 1978. Aussie Athletic Officals wanted him to quit League and run in the Olympics he was that good , on them times meadys about 4 metres down the track from corowa at the tape bro and well beaten.

All the footage I have seen of Larry and the blokes he burnt just showed me he was quick, nothing spectacular and certainly nothing to suggest he would beat Dave or Kevin easily. Looked standard for quicks of most generations.

Dave and I had a convo with Darren Albert a few years back and both compared times, Darren was ****ing fast with 10.7 over the 100. Martin Offiah would have run at those times consistently in his hey day.

Shannon Walker has run the fastest time at the Titans although it was hand timed on grass, 10.4. The bloke has the record for laser timed 40m...4.67 secs  It's a fairly competitive time for NFL players, same as Devin Hesters.

Look at some of Shannons tries compared to Larrys and you will see a massive diff in running speed.

Like I just said hand timed to laser timed is a massive difference. Larry ran 10.47 hand timed Shannon 10.4 hand timed. Mead and Gordon for arguments sake 11secs.

I filmed the Kilcoy gift in Jan 09 where Kevin beat Shannon :yep

Larry would have beaten Mead by more than 4 mtrs if that's what times they ran, more like 6 or 7mtrs

Yeah watched plenty of David Mead , never seems to beat oposition wingers with pure pace on the outside unlike Corowa who scored all of his tries with pace alone. Most league historions rate top 3 , Albert , Offiah and Walker just average 11 second runners. Dont think Meadys ever gunna get a call up by Aussie Athletics , dont give out medals for high 10.8s

I wonder why he doesnt beat blokes on the outside?...Seen the structure of League today compared to Larrys mud years. I know that's your era and I know you know the massive difference.

Laser timed Larry may have been the fastest league player in the universe but I guarantee you he was not a 10.4 runner in any shape of form.

Most league historians wouldnt know who the **** Shannon is  He is a Q Cup player.

Article on Kevin Gordon end of last Year...

LIGHTNING quick Titans winger Kevin Gordon has further staked his claim as the fastest man in league, with GPS match data revealing the fleet-footed flyer has clocked speeds in excess of 40km/h this season.

With the turf at the Sydney Football Stadium still smouldering after he sensationally ran down Roosters rocket Sam Perrett on Monday night, the Gold Coast Bulletin has obtained the numbers that prove what many already believe.

Gordon has broken the 40km/h barrier numerous times this season, with a maximum recorded speed of 41.8km/h.
Put simply, the kid can move.
"He has worn a GPS unit in 10 games this year," said Titans strength and conditioning coach Chris McLellan.

"What we have had throughout the year is some spikes and some high velocities above 40km/h, which is super quick.

"He might have two or three of those in a game and they naturally correspond with him getting into space."

Incredibly, 100m world record-holder Usain Bolt has a top speed of about 43km/h, which is just 1.2km/h faster than 20-year-old Gordon.

There were stats on Nathan Friend last year aswell and they were insane, probably the fittest bloke in the comp. He has missed 4 games this year and leads the tackle count :patsch:lol:

Is this the **** the Titans are feeding the gullible idiotic media with jooga , Usain Bolt has the 100 metre world record of 9.58 sec which equals 43 km/hour , so are the Titans saying that Kevin Gordon in footy gear and boots run under 10 seconds with a 41.8 km/hour run on grass. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha your club needs to get your gps gear rechecked . This idiotical newspaper article is a joke , it means when Bolt run 10.58 Gordon would only be 3 or 4 metres behind him .

    Well said Pecks.

You cant turn **** into Gravy.

Even though they have some names Mortimer, Robson, MacGuire and Hayne are not even close to Working with Widdop, Cronk, Smith and Slater.

Yes i will say the Eels have 2 great Props in Moi Moi and Mannah but after them and Hindmarsh its all ****.

Anyway im not to worried as a hate the Eels so anytime there losing its ****ing great to see.

I feel for Kearney as we have seen what he can do as a coach its hard with so many players that are not really the smart footballing types.

There is No kicking game the play around the Ruck is average and there defense is so so aswell.
