I've scene an article which suggests Marquez has been offered a $5m guarantee plus add-ons in respect of the PPV sales.

Assuming Pacquiao beats Shane..... Arum can really sell the arse off this one meaning megabucks for all parties.

Ideally Marquez would have something in between, but I'm not sure what can be done in respect of promotional and TV rights. Obviously Golden Girl retain the right to match any offer and have HBO in their pocket.... whereas Pacquiao is going on Showtime.

The best option for JMM would be to sign a two fight deal with TR, but I can't see it happening.

Apparently GBP have matched the $5m offer from Arum.

The likely opponent is Alvarez

This is obviously due to Marquez taking the **** out of him for imposing a catchweight on a naturally smaller opponent in his first world title fight and also for failing to make the weight limit that he stipulated.

Answer me this though..... if he can't make 150 for that fight, why would he all of a sudden be able to make 147 six months later?

Bit of a joke this one, you've got a huge light middle potentially facing a small/average sized lightweight.

Marquez could still probably school him though.

JMM is saying he wants a fight in July at 140, says he'll self-promote it and will be in Mexico. He also want to negotiate the Pac deal and get a catchweight of 144. This is from the scene btw.

Is Schaefer serious about making Marquez-Alvarez?

    God knows.

Why not have Rafa Marquez vs Ortiz on the undercard while we are at it

    Surely HBO wouldn't have this??

GBP are getting a bit desperate here, it's obvious Marquez wants to fight Pac so let him take the fight instead of coming up with bull**** offers .

Alvarez doesn't make any sense alright. Why don't they offer him Khan or Maidana instead at 140?

Is it the 5 million, do they think they could sell the Alvarez fight well enough to make that amount? Doesn't seem likely does it, Alvarez isnt PPV yet.

Hopefully Marquez sticks to his guns and goes for the Pac fight.

They'll try and sell the fight on the little jab Marquez had at him over the catchweight.

One thing I don't get is that Golden Girl have the right to match any offer, but surely JMM isn't bound to accept and can choose his path?

If they say it's Alvarez or Alvarez and Marquez says he wants nothing to do with it where do they all go from there?

I'm just guessing here, but I'm assuming the deal is; If they at least match the offer from another promoter for a fight in the same weight classes, then he is bound to accept the GBP offer.

So if Marquez is willing to go up to 147 for his next fight, and he's offered 5 mil for it, then GBP have the right to match that figure and Marquez has to take their fight instead. Thats the only way it makes sense to me.

    Yeah probably so.

There's a lot of questions to be answered..... mainly how the hell is Alvarez going to make 147 without starving himself.... he was 152 on the scales for his last fight and huge in the ring.

Not that it really matters but how are they going to be ableto give him a $5m guarantee without losing a fortune??

Marquez could probably beat him but in all reality it's a freak show.

Looks like this could happen on the 5th/12th November...... so long as Schaefer doesn't throw a spanner in the works.

    :happy

Manny Pacquiao 52-5-1 vs Juan Manuel Marquez 54-4 - Unfinished Business.

    :yep

Marquez saying he's accepted an offer and it'll be at 144 :happy

For Golden Boy to stop this fight they have to offer Marquez $5m for a fight at 144 or below. Arum the sneaky ****er knows they'd offer Alvarez but there is no chance in hell Canelo can make 144 :yep

I hope it gets made seeing as the Mayweather dosent even look like happening. Marquez will cause problems for Pac like he's always had but i think this time if Pac knocks him down the he will finish him.

thats what he did last time, he didn't have a strength/nutritionist coach and followed a bodybuilding protocol.

great news, only 1 of 2 possible and wothwile fight and worthy opponent left for pacman.

144 is good for both, manny will weigh in that no probs, marquez can too seen as he weighs that for nights of fights recently.

I think the combination of pacs improved skill with his even better power will stop marquez by tko or cuts.

Pac Ortiz would be better but Marquez is still casting a shadow over Pacs legacy and him and Roach know it. They always talk about how he is vulnerable and he didn't really win. 144 is a decent catch weight. Its good to see Pac giving up weight rather than taking it this time.
