First off, I do not hate Donaire as a matter of fact he is Christian just like me and I wish him the best. Is just that I think he is too high in that list, to me a fighter who lost by UD against a 2-1 fighter even though it was his 2nd pro fight says a lot about his boxing skills. Plus, his first 15 pro fights were against D opposition ... :good

Oh yes, losing to a 2-1 fighter by UD says a lot about a so called " P4P top 3 " fighter. Even though that I understand that fighters mature and get better with experience and age, that's very bad for him in losing against such horrible opposition. My statement is that Gamboa's first 20 pro fights has fought better opposition ( compared to Donaire's first 20 fights, and not after ).

Oh yes, an incredible amateur record like Gamboa's has to be a factor whether you like it or not. The amateurs are like Baseball's AAA leagues, almost as good as the Majors.

    Understand better now? :good

Take it easy compadre, I haven't called Donaire a Bum. I give him a lot of credit as he is very fast and powerful. I am just comparing Yuriorkis' first 20 pro fights against Nonito's first 20 fights. Understand better now? :good

Mate, you're talking absolute shite. pipe down before you make a fool of yourself.

We all know Donaire shouldn't be top 3 P4P, but that's not because of an insignificant loss early in his career. To even consider that notion is utterly ridiculous. If that loss was at all relevant, surely the better fighters that Donaire fought (eg. Montiel, Darch) would have followed up on it? Stop talking smack.

Why does Gamboa's amateur pedigree need to be considered? It means nothing. If amatuer records meant anything in the pros, then Mark Breland would be the GOAT, and Librado Andrade would be one of the worst fighters on the planet. Amateur records mean little in the pro game, they're a nice accolade, but don't reflect fighters level in the pro-game.

Donaire is overrated, but he has better wins than Gamboa, and has looked better in the process. If you can't accept that, then there is no hope for you.

Excellent explanation. But when camparing these two fighters we have to compare them with just 20 pro fights as Gamboa only has 20 pro fights. Gamboa's resume is better ( in their first 20 fights ) compared to Nonito's, period. Of course, Nonito has really stepped it up since and defeated better fighters than Gamboa, but just give Yuriorkis some time... :good

In my opinion, yes. Losing to those type of opponents is really horrible and unexcusable. The great ones never suffered those type of losses! :good

Again, I am talking about these 2 fighter's first 20 pro fights, not after! My point is that Gamboa has fought the better opponents so early in his career compared to Don-nadie. Gamboa has defeated Barros ( 28-0 ), Salido and Solis in less than 20 pro fights while Donaire was fighting mediocre boxers. This is not a theory, it's a fact! Just look it up in Box Rec and you will see .

A lost even though happened 10 years ago, blemishes a boxer's record. It says that he was already " dominated " specially by someone who was 2-1. That talks about a boxer's technique, skills and ring intelligence and says that he couldn't overcome and win on that day. ;)

Being undefeated is very important. It's like being a virgen to a woman, never been touched or blemished, never seeing a loss, has never been dominated, has always dominated his competition and has always showed that he is in control. :good

Donaire has 26 pro fights and Gamboa has 20, and uh Gamboa has fought much better opponents in his first 20 pro fights, Gamboa has held the IBF and WBA and was 2004 Olympic Gold Champion, plus is 3 times World Amateur Champ uh, stop me any time now ............... ;)
