That was a rumor started by some idiot. Floyd has plenty of haters, so if you say something bad and it sticks, stupid people will roll with it without checking whether its true or not.

Floyd's homebois at the WADA don't list it as one of their illegal substances.

Is Xyloclaine the most ridiculous malicious rumour ever concocted on a forum?

You know, its not even very well done.

As background, the examiner isnt a legit site. Its a hosting site for fan blogs. The article is very amateurish (lots of Mayweather is a ducker, a coward, mixed in with wild accusations) and its easy about as dumb as it gets. Well, if you have ever been to a boxing gym.

Firstly, scratching the surface, its actually legal in most states. I think its only illegal in about 7. No state that hosts any sort of contact sport regularly has it banned. As pain killing injections are important in the treatment of injuries. Whats more, the states the writer says it is banned in its not actually banned as in on a PED list. Its banned, as in youre literally not allowed to buy it, as the state hasnt deemed it safe for use.

You know banned in 49 states, Im not sure if that bit has been added on for affect by other plotters, but its plainly false.

Secondly, you can tell an amateurish smear effort, by the fact that they dont even realise that Mayweather has fought all over the place since 2002 when he made the video (ironically for a HBO documentary on hand injuries, and how they are treated in sport).

Hes fought in 7 different states since th evideo. Oregon, California, Miami, Michigan, New York, New Jersey being some of them. Hes actually fought in more different states than Pacquiao!? Hes only actually fought in Nevada 10 times in his entire career in fact.

Thirdly, if you actually box, or play football at a decent level, youll laugh at this. Its a real weak claim. The guys knowledge of boxing must just extend to having a picture of Manny on their wall. Its a claim that has and has no respect for the sport.

Xyloclaine, Cortisone, and other pain killing injections are used legally in most boxing gyms. I have been lucky enough to play both college football, and box professionally for a couple of years. Ive taken pain killing injections in both, fully legally, in most states.

Treatment of injury or ailment is not performance enhancing. If athletes couldnt numb injured limbs then sport would fall apart. Its nothing to do with fighting. Its just to allow you to train through injuries, and to allow people with birth defects like that to compete at an even level. I guarantee Pacquiao doesnt feel any pain whatsoever in any punch he throws. So, if you get a lot of hand injuries, of course you take pain killing injections.

You know, seriously, you could hit a tree 300 times with a boxing glove. You wouldnt feel it. Especially with in ring adrenaline. The theory that Manny Pacquiaos punching power is based on the fact that he holds back as punching hurts him, is both ridiculous, hilarious and humiliating.

Gloves are designed to protect the hands as much as they are the face. They numb pain themselves. They are the original number. All the drugs suggested do is allow people born with hand problems to compete at the same level.

Finally, this is rather a malicious campaign. Not a news story. The guy who wrote it also posted 152 questions on the subject, with a link, to Yahoo questions. 152I

They also posted several videos on the subject to Youtube, with links to his article. And his cronies have been flooding message boards with links to it. On the principle that those are the only sites that will take such stupidity I assume

Im supposing the follow up article will be Tennis Player uses legal cough medicine shocker. Not going into a bout bunged up is a Performance Enhancer.

The only true aspects of the story are that Mayweather used a legal pain killer in 2002.

The made up bits are that its banned in 49 states its banned in about 5, and only for medical reasons. Not banned as in on a PE drugs list. Banned, as in, you can buy it in a chemist in Oregon, but not errrr, Kansas. Some states deem it dangerous, as treating joint injuries with pain killing injections you are really risking disability in the area.

Floyd has also fought in 7 different states states the video was made since 2002. More than Pacquiao. Whats more, it isnt even illegal in Texas. Think that was another odd claim.

Seriously. I like watching Manny, but I find his fans hard work. They tend to flood decent boards with malicious intent. Most of which is usually at least 50% made up.

You know, pulling out of the biggest fight ever, over drug testing, is what it is. Of course people will be suspicious. If a MLB slugger said he wouldnt take Olympic random testing, people would think that he is on something.

You know, Id suggest that Mayweather uses legal pain killer, thats legal almost anywhere, and used widely in most MMA and boxing gyms, as wells as pro football. You know, if I ever write that book about dumb amateur boxing pundits, this will be on the first page.

The rumor's famous sticking point is that it's illegal in 48 states, supposedly having a few supporters makes it seem so bad. Floyd has fought in 7 different states ever since the public knew he uses it. 7 is much greater than 2, the number it's legal in according to the rumor, the rumored numbers don't even make sense.

Didn't Floyd's xylocaine business start even before manny refused to take blood tests?

I say he will ask. Dropping it suddenly after a 1.5year campaign makes it look weak. Their message has remained consistent with how all future opponents must test. This isn't some bull**** you can just retract without looking stupid.
