If these guys were to go head to head in their primes, who would have won and why? I haven't seen too much of Chuck Wepner believe it or not, so if this is an obvious poll choice, then keep that in mind, and maybe offer a bit of analysis if you're willing. Thanks.

Quarry was very aggressive and i have no doubt hed eventually bust up Wepner.. Wepner had alot of heart and was a good size hw back then but short on skill and busted up easy hence the nickname(Bayonne Bleeder).. Wepner would put up a fight here(all guts) but hed be outgunned and outpunched at least 2 or 3 to 1 by the smaller but quicker and big punching Quarry... Quarry was on another level (skill wise) Quarry tko 7

Wepner was one of the worst fighters of all time. He couldn't hit, he wasn't strong, he didn't have a good chin, he cut easily, he had no defense, he couldn't box, and he wasn't fast. Quarry easily.

Wepner's outrageous decision over ernie terrell was so bad, Terrell's manager attacked the referee(the lone judge) at knifepoint after the decision. Some ringsiders didn't give Wepner 1 round.

I believe you, brother. Quarry, may be freakishly loved and praised on Classic to my chagrin, but he was so vastly superior to Wepner, it's not even funny. He was inconsistent but it'd be very unlikely Wepner would have as good a day and Quarry as bad for him to lose to Chuck.

:huh He didn't have good skin, but not a good chin? Sonny Liston almost had to cause his actual death to stop him.

Jerry's fists were perfectly capable of opening Chuck up. Wepner's best legal weapon was probably his right to the body, useful against Ali (who freely gave away body shots), but not so helpful in dealing with JQ, who would have little difficulty evading Chuck's slowish punches to the head.

Wepner was only floored by Mathis, Liston (who bypassed his chin in dumping him with a short right to the midriff), Ali (who dropped an exhausted 36 year old Chuck after a sustained barrage with less than 30 seconds to go in round 15), and Horst Geisler in round ten when 38 years of age, so I expect he'd finish on his feet with Jerry, getting stopped yet again on cuts.

Quarry would have scored a shutout,or even a late ko,over a brave but overmatched Wepner.

Wepner got hit too much to be hit by Quarry without the RSC...Jerry would be hitting him at will

Quarry will stop him, I'll say that. By cuts or an accumulation of punches.

This would be a heavy bag work out for Quarry ,and pretty unedifying to watch I should think. Watching a brave man have his face systematically tenderized into rare steak.

chuck wepner was the tex cobb of his day, long on heart and guts but short on skill. This would be absolutely no contest at all with quarry chopping him to bits. Quarry by late round ko.

    Ridiculous. Why even compare them?
Quarry was on another level. The greatest heavyweight to never win a title.
Wepner was slow, weak, and cut easily. He was a dirty fighter and lost to every good fighter he ever fought. Hell, the only reason he won againts terrel was his amazing plan of damaging Terrell's fists with his face.
