With Brad Hemming withdrawn, & Mark Dalby with no points after his only fight, it looks like it's now a six man competition.

I hope their's enough left for a final... when the time comes.

Well, even if there's not, it has already been a success for Aussie boxing.

True. No easy task to keep co-ordinated. I think the Qld crowds will turn up for Kidd and Kanofski.

In relation to withdrawals, they each get a point if someone withdraws due to injury unless the opponent agrees to fight at another time which I believe is the case.

    Fighting chance for our Todd

by Nick Berrett - Caboolture Shire Herald - 27th April 2011

Caboolture boxer Todd Kidd is growing in confidence as his hopes of winning the Australian Fight Series rise.

Kidd, 26, beat veteran professional Alex Ahtong in a points decision recently, to lead the series with two fights left.

He opened his tournament account with a knockout against the experienced Jason Kanofski, giving him an extra point on the series ladder.

"It is going really well,’’ he said.

"I have grown with a little bit of confidence as the tournament goes on."

Kidd, who is undefeated in five fights in his professional career, faces Faisal Fayad on May 13 in the next series fight, which pits Australia’s top eight welterweight fighters against each other.

The winner will fight on an undercard in California, a dream opportunity for professional boxers.

"It would open up bigger opportunities for sponsors,’’ Kidd said.

"It would be a good stepping stone into the pro ranks and would be great to take out a series at such an early stage in my career.’’

Kidd has also secured sponsorship with Caboolture accounting firm Mobbs & Company, run by his former Tullawong High schoolmate Dan Scougall.

Promoter Mark Lonergan said the $21,000 sponsorship from Mobbs & Company meant Kidd could concentrate on boxing full time.

"It is huge for Todd,’’ he said.

"It allows him to focus on his boxing.’‘

    I'll go for:

    Kidd over Fayad.
    Hunt over Artong.
    Cessiare over Kanofski.

Hopefully Tim Hunt will talk about the tournament, and how that cut on his head is healing.

Todd Kidd is looking more and more the likely winner of this tournament, as predicted from the outset by StiffJab and TCBoxa.

In a way Hunt has been perhaps the discovery of the tournament - but his cut eye isn't going to enhance his prospects.

His manager/promoter Wilcock will. Hunt is the sole purpose of the series.
Had live telecast via One-HD eventuated, the series could've worked. Unfortunately it didn't pan out that way & as a result it's nothing short of very costly disaster. I reckon Wilcock would've dropped close to 100k so far. Steve Deller might do OK, cos the upcoming show is at his now extended gym.

Yeah, I spoke to a couple of the honchos just prior to the tournament starting and at that stage they thought they had the CHOICE of ONE HD and FOX for coverage.

Plainly they then dipped out on both.

Might've decided on free to air One-HD for wider exposure. However, One-HD doesn't pay, whereas Fox does.
