don't get hit on the nose is the best way to stop it.

I'm pretty lucky with nose bleeds. Ive only ever had one nose bleed in my life it wasn't a bad one either. Just a couple trickles dropped out. I have had my nose broken 2 times and it never bleed. My nose just doesn't bleed, its pretty weird actually i have been hit flush on the nose lots of times and it doesn't bleed. Which is a good thing for any combat athlete.

The only certain way to stop it is to not get hit, the only certain way to not get hit is to not spar.

Obviously if you want to continue sparring the only thing you can do is limit the damage.

First things first, see a doctor. A nose injury is an injury like any other. If it's bleeding that consistently you may have a deviated septum or some other injury which is creating extra pressure in the capillaries and hence causing the bleeds. The doctor may tell you to stay away from sparring for a few weeks to let everything heal up.

If the doctor gives you the all clear try out some head gear with the nose bar (facesavers), they're not ideal, and your nose still gets hit, but it's better than nothing. You could also stick to light, controlled sparring with experienced guys (ie, guys that can set and maintain that controlled pace but still get you to work), maybe body sparring or sparring drills, so you're still working but you're not taking direct shots to the face.

Alot of nosebleeds are caused from your nose being dry.. I bleed alot from my nose but after a while of sparring and getting hit on my nose it'll stop.

You can try that cauterized thing or you can maybe even sniff salt water lol, if anything I'd recommend maybe moistening the inside of your noise with some water before sparring.

Btw someone said they spar with 14oz gloves.. that's ****ing crazy. I hit the bag with 16oz and spar with 18oz.. 14oz is just insane for sparring.

It was me who said I sparr with 14oz. How heavy are you? I'm 60kg at 15 years old. I use 14oz and pull my punches a little on some of more inexperienced guys.

Bigger guys generally need bigger gloves.

I know this is an old post, but use afrin in each nostril everyday and you won't bleed as easy. As crazy as it sounds, if you do get a bloody nose, chew on a piece of cardboard like a piece of gum and it will quit bleeding. I don't know how it works, I just know it works..

Rub a bit of vaseline up your nose. Won't stop it from bleeding, but it can help reduce the flow of blood.

But really, you need to get your nose cauterized. That's the only real solution.

Like righthooker says, rub vaseline inside your nose before sparring to keep it moist inside and squidgy, and also on your nose of course to help the punches slide off. Also during the day sip water to keep hydrated, because I know from experience when you are dry it bleeds even more. I was like you when I started sparring for about 2 years of sparring it would bleed, and my coaches all seemed to hate the sight of blood, its annoying because they stop it even when you are sparring great - it really holds you back. About a year into my sparring i got it cauterized at the doctors, was quick and painless, but my nose kept bleeding. I kept sparring, making sure i was hydrated/ vaseline in my nose, and it slowed down, eventually it stopped altogether and i was able to take hits to the nose all the time and it woudnt bleed trust me it toughens up 100%.

You need to pack your nose with adrenalin cream.

My coach has told me you can get it castarasicd (sp) or something. Just tell your doctor you keep getting nosebleeds and he stops them with an operation. Use to have them early on now I just move my head and they magically stopped.

'Castrated,' he meant. Just stop by the doc and tell em you'd like it done.
