Barney Ross or Tommy Hearns? Are they close for you? Why/why not?

At Cruiserweight, I feel Hearns would dominate a prime Jimmy Young. Could Ross do that? Maybe. But maybe not.

Ross's resume outweighs Tommy. But Tommy was one great fighter. A triple A type.

Thomas Hearns was in an era where there were great amatuers and professionals and the training techniques were modern. Hearns fought them all and in many divisions he fought greats. There is no comparison. Ross wouldnt know what to do with a fighter of hearns class. Thomas Hearns lands his right and Ross is either out cold or going to be after the next one. The eras do not merge to well.

Because very likely "he is my fav", "I don´t know much about Ross" and "he looked better on film" aren´t really good arguments. :thumbsup

I go with Hearns. Ross' was 5-7 and had a 67 inch reach and Hearns would have knock him out quicker than he did Duran. Ross fought the great of his day but those guys did not compare with the caliber of Hearns opponents years later and cannot compare Frankie Klick with Benite, or Fuller to Cuevas. Hearn was unbelievable!!!!!

you guys think anyone who is from the 30s or 40s is great just because they were from that era to show you know boxing, when if you really did go look at the greast grainy film you have and tell me how they would match up with someone with hearns right hand and reach. the old guys all fought bums and had 150 fights compared to a guy like Tom Hearns who had 160 amatuers fights against top european fighters better than the bums those old guys fought.
