I think there's a video somewhere in which a Joe Goossen explains you get fight cheques on night of the fight and the trainer gets his pay later then anyone as he relies on being given money by fighter or something like that.

    Let me find video

If your purse is £1 million you take home £700K......... that sounds about fair lol.

Great stuff from Goosen there. Impressed with how articulate and measured he was. My guess for the fighter Sechback was referring to would be Amir Khan. Props to Sechback for uploading a video - and no offense meant to ellie here - where he got schooled.

Who the **** needs a manager..?

A coach should know how to be a manager, and the rest the promoters can do.

Im expert but would guess a trainer has to have an encyclopedic knowledge of what goes on inside the ring. Styles, preparation, boxing experience etc. A manager has to have an encyclopedic knowledge of what goes on outside the ring. Knowledge of tax laws, a head for figures, ability to arrange commercial deals. Very few people will be quaified to do both.

    No fighter needs a manager..

A coach, should know how to do a managers job. Adam Booth is manager and coach, a good coach should be both in my opinion.

"It should just be part of their make up"

If not, they are complete ******s.

"A promoter, should deal with tax laws and all of that jazz"

Like i have just stated, no fighter needs a manager.

All they need is a coach & promoter, and condition coach if they wanna get all jazzy.

Roach gets $1M flat for every Pac fight since he went up to welterweight. He used to get 10% of every Pacquiao purse but ever since Pac earned purses upwards of $10M, he decided to fix Roach's fee to one million.

A good trainer should know all about strength and conditioning. The days of hitting a bag and pads and throwing in a few press ups, sit ups and star jumps ended a very long time ago. A trainer should have a very good grasp of fight specific drills entirely and how to advise and implement dietry changes for best effect.

a coach get 10% of a fighters purse up to a certain amount then it can be negotiable, although most boxers appreciate when they first start out a coach would need to take 1,2 or 3 days off there work depending we're the fight was and may only earn £100 from that particular fight I know I've done it plenty times.
A coach without doubt has the hardest job although we also, apart from the fighter get most satisfaction from victory and it's deserved
