    Ok just read he meant as a slave to the crazy extremists, not as a racist remark e.g. black ppl being slaves.

    A lot of Jamaican and Caribbean(jamaicas in the caribbean ain't it?) people have Scottish surnames such as Fraser, macdonald etc.
    Is this from when the country was under British rule or what? I know obviously a lot of African slaves would have been brought over also, and their tribal names replacedwith anglicised ones, possibly of their slave captors? Not cool IMO if that is the case anyway.

    Wealthy Brits owned sugar plantations in the west indies during the height of the slave trade. Any slaves who worked on their plantation would take the sir name of the owner and obviously give the name to their children and grand children and so on. Just like how African Americans in most cases still hold the sir name of their ancestor's slave master.
