    Yeah Dempsey was a savage fighter. When Williard won the belt. Was Johnson competitive or wss it a bad beating?

    I think Willard/Dempsey, I first think of Willard's bravery rather than Dempsey's brutality.

    For a man to stand up to that first round assault, is simply mind boggling.

    The most brutal, IMO, goes to the Rock.

    The 37 year old Walcott stands up to the undefeated youngster, and is edging the fight only for the Brockton Blockbuster to finish bout in the most brutal fashion, in arguably boxing's most memorable finish.

    This can be said as well, because no man one a title with any more succinct, brutal conclusiveness than Marciano did from Walcott...the standout one punch ko of history, even agreed upon in the last edition of Ring magazine in their feature on one punch ko's...lol,...all the modern day spin and revisionist bull**** can't deny Rocky's great right hand blast vs Walcott.

    The terrible beating that Jess Willard received at the hands of Jack Dempsey was the
    most brutal ending for a heavyweight champion. In any other age Dempsey scores a first round kayo,but the ref let it continue on and on.
    At least Joe Walcott's ko at the hands of Marciano's pulverizing right hand,was like
    anesthesia to Walcott.

    I loved to watch Joe Walcott fight.Saw him flatten a boxing ko artist Tommy Gomez in MSG,and when Jersey Joe was on, would be a handful for most anyone. Incidentally,I think that was a left-uppercut, ala Robinson/Fullmer,
    that flattened Ezzard Charles .

    Ezzard Charles took one of the more harder shots in history, and certainly Walcott did as well, but in terms of sustained beatings it wasn't nearly as brutal as the following"

    * Willard
    * Burns (a fourteen round hiding at the hands of Johnson)
    * Braddock (took a nasty beating over the last few rounds of the Louis fight before he finally succumbed)
