Trainer Freddie Roach*is not surprised with the recent*attack by Floyd Mayweather Jr. Roach says it's no coincidence for Mayweather to resurface a few days before*a scheduled fight involving Manny Pacquiao, who faces Shane Mosley on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather has been inactive since*a twelve round decision win over Mosley in May 2010.

Two days ago, Mayweather spoke out and fired several verbal blows in Pacquiao's direction.

"The thing is this, Floyd Mayweather has never been scared of Manny Pacquiao at all. Never! At all! All he's doing is fighting my leftovers and he just keeps on saying that I'm scared. All I say every day is this, just take the test," Mayweather told.

Roach believes Mayweather is looking for attention because the boxing public, and the media, have been turned off by his antics, inactivity and constant trash talking.

"It's convenient for him because*the only way he can be on the stage right now is to talk about a Manny Pacquiao fight, because of that*nobody really cares about him and everybody*has kind of forgot about him by now. He hasn't fought in over a year. He's out of the ratings now. He's not on the pound-for-pound list anymore. His career has*gone in the toilet," Roach told .

    True.

His popularity increased after both the Hatton and Mosley bouts, he wasted the opportunities though.

He's reached Demi-God status for a select few of people on ESB, though.

But yeah, so predictable. The only thing that will top it is him announcing a fight on Saturday morning again, probably against Ortiz.

Wouldn't be surprised if he did. He's more shameless and cares less about what people think than most boxers.

I agree with Coach Freddy. I rank Coach Freddy as a fighter higher than mayweather all time. No problem

    He's trying to ride Pacquiao's coat-tails. He's a Pacquiao nuthugger.

De La Hoya's vacancy opened the doors for Mayweather. Floyd's vacancy opened it for Pac.
Manny has since ran with the ball, Floyd decided not to play.

Media hype is now on Manny's side... Floyd at this point needs another move.
(Pac at this point don't need the Mayweather fight, IMO)

Floyd's using Pacquiao's name to promote himself... Just like JMM, Martinez and the rest. Fall in line, roidhead :D

If Floyd decided to fight again and did crap numbers, then the argument would be valid. As it stands though he is the #1 PPV attraction in boxing IF he is active....I don't think anyone has forgotten about him, he is brought up damn near everyday, but there are many who are becoming turned off by his antics and would wish he would get in the ring. This, however isn't likely to negatively impact his next PPV numbers.

Pac is the #1 ppv attraction though. Maybe not per fight but per year and overall.

Floyd is the number 1 ppv attraction. When he fights records are broken.

Hence the reason I said that if he is active. Manny (#2) is #1 by default because Floyd doesn't want to fight.
