This isn't really a topic about who would win (that's obvious), rather it's about how competitive it would be & how long Old Larry would last. Imagine this is Lennox of Biggs/Bruno vintage against the Holmes of Holy/Mercer vintage. Would young Lewis obliterate Larry early, or would he be given trouble from the trusty jab of Old Holmes, before brutally stopping him past the mid-point like he did to Bruno? I think there is a question as to who would win. Bruno gave Lewis all kinds of hell with his jab, and I think Larry in 92 was better than Bruno with movement and his jab. I think Holmes could possibly score the upset here in 92, because Lewis was a technical mess and could have found himself swinging at air for 12 rounds. I think the better balanced Lewis of the mid 90's beats 92 Holmes by comfortable decision.
I did put an option for "controversial decision". For instance if Holmes lasted the distance & gave him difficulties with the jab like Bruno did, then maybe it could be scored for him, but i think there would be a lot of disagreement as to if the big wide bombs of Lewis & rocking Larry several times &/or dropping him was more worthy of a decision. I just think if Lennox being out-boxed & is behind he will likely go for the KO & get it by devastating brute force, like he did with Bruno.
prime holmes had the style , the heart, the chin, the stamina to beat lewis any day of the week. old holmes vs lewis 92 would be close, probably a young lewis by decision but holmes would have his moments and he would do lewis to look bad
Is there an assumption that because Bruno troubles, a '92 Holmes does? Bruno had an A Class jab and A Class power of his own and was more athletic than this version of Holmes. I think Lewis knocks Holmes out at this stage, he may have a few poblems early, maybe not, but I think he'd go looking for the KO and get it
probably one of the most absurd comparisons ever. and frank bruno almost knocked out lewis... i repeat... absurd argument the jab of the bruno was garbage compared with the jab of holmes, the chin of bruno was **** compared with the chin of holmes, the skill of bruno was a joke compared with the skill of holmes. any version of holmes would play with bruno, any version of holmes was by farbetter than frank bruno
No he wasnt, especially in the footwork department. I would say old Holmes jab was equally as good as Bruno's. Im not saying Holmes definitely wins, but he definitely gives that Lewis lots of trouble.
I should've added more poll options, like "Lewis via close decision". The "Lewis via dominant UD" option refers to Lewis brutally battering Holmes from pillar-to-post for much of the fight, & it's rather unrealistic he'd survive such a nuclear assault.
