I am just curious too know, since the thread with p4p top 100 is up there and looks a bit strange too me, so I would like too see what esb experts lists look like. mine is like 1. sugar ray robinson 2. muhammad ali 3. henry armstrong 4. joe louis 5. willie pepp 6. benny leonard 7. roberto duran 8. manny pacquiao 9. harry greb 10. sam langford
1. Ray Robinson 2. Sam Langford 3. Henry Armstrong 4. Harry Greb 5. Ezzard Charles 6. Roberto Duran 7. Willie Pep 8. Muhammad Ali 9. Benny Leonard 10. Micky Walker
1. Ray Robinson 2. Sam Langford 3. Henry Armstrong 4. Harry Greb 5. Ali 6. Duran 7. JCC 8. Morales 9. Sanchez 10. Louis
Pac 8th? Maybe he has the potential, but let him end his career. He may reach p4p tops or he may end like RJJ with several defeats to medicore fighters. I dont like putting active fighters in the lists, especially that high.
its difficult, I have trouble ranking guys I have seen no footage of. Its also impossible for guys nowadays to compete with oldtimers. for example when pep was the same age khan is now he was already 107-1-1 how do you compete with that? its extremely difficult to do.
1. Sugar Ray Robinson 2. Muhammad Ali 3. Harry Greb 4. Sam Langford 5. Henry Armstrong 6. Joe Louis 7. Ezzard Charles 8. Benny Leonard 9. Willie Pep 10. Barney Ross Honourable mentions: Stanley Ketchel, Archie Moore, Fitzsimmons, Benny Leonard, SRL, Hagler, Hearns And i feel real bad about leaving Duran out.
Duran at his best (lightweight) was one of the greatest pound for pound fighters ever. Of course this is really just a list of the greatest fighters ever regardless of weight. I like that Ezzard Charles is included. He would have been one of the greatest middleweights and probably is the greatest light heavyweight ever.
Its basically a Benny Leonard vs Duran situation, head to head I think Duran wins by TKO (Version that fought De Jesus 2).But Leonard is a legend in terms of defining what boxing is today, and his skills back then were unparalleled and way ahead of his time. Also Barney Ross is hugely underrated by most people
Admittedly, I'm biased towards the fighters I grew up with and, outside of some ESPN Classic, not as schooled on the earlier fighters as I probably should be. Of the guys I've watched extensively, here's my list. 1. Sugar Ray Robinson 2. Henry Armstrong 3. Muhammed Ali 4. Joe Luis 5. Ezzard Charles 6. Willie Pep 7. Archie Moore 8. Sugar Ray Leonard 9. Roberto Duran 10. Thomas Hearns *** Although I rate Ali higher, I've always thought Louis had a damn good shot of beating him head to head.
Greb Robinson Langford Armstong Louis Pepp Charles Ali Duran Roughly. That's only nine though, 10 changes a lot to me.
1. Ali 2. Robinson 3. Leonard 4. Hagler 5. Whitaker 6. Duran 7. Holmes 8. Arguello 9. Ricardo Lopez 10. Chavez I don't go for anything from the old days other than Robinson because he was light years ahead of his time. Nostalgia keeps these old timers kicking around and 200+ fight records should not disguise the fact that they would get pissed upon by a large percentage of the modern elite. PS - My P4P is head to head - Not record and acheivement based and it only includes retired fighters or this would change.
Manny Pacquiao Sugar Ray Robinson Ali Ishe Smith Benny Leonard Barney Ross Pepp Montel Williams Phil donahue Larry Merchant Notable Mention: Geraldo Rivera Combined Record 743-79-6
1. David Hayemaker. 2. Floyd Mayweather. 3. Manny Pacman. 4. Amir Khaaaaaaaaan. 5. Mike Tyson. 6. Oscar de la Golden Boy. 7. Victor Ortease. 8. Andriey Berto. 9. Miguel Clottey. 10. Soul Alvarez. Don't tell me I don't know **** about Boxing!
