I , as most boxing fans are, am a huger lover of Ali (do i need to put no homo in the classic?). This video bought some of those sad smiles i often get when watching older and retired Ali. One question i always wondered about mental toughness is would a guy be tougher mentally if he could take a sustained beating , or if he new when to walk away. I am on the fence with this one and still can not make my mind up as to which i think sums up mental toughness more.
There is always a chance to win in boxing, especially if you're great. Mnetal toughness is going for that small chance.
People hate Ali because apparently Joe Frazier's kids were the first kids in history to be teased at school
I had a mad dream, that Muhammad Ali wanted to pay his respects to Henry Cooper. And it cut live on BBC NEWS, to Muhammad Ali. And he was standing at a podium, like the president of the United States. He looks healthier, and he had put on abit of weight, but he was still old. And his speech, was really improved, his voice sounded young again. And he had one hand in the air, pointing and making a fist, and all the camera's where flashing. And i got emotional during this dream, and walked out of the room............"Because i then knew it was a dream". Muhammad Ali has been imprisoned in his body for years, but he see's it as a test. Muhammad Ali's boxing record reads as 61 fights, won 56, KO 37, lost 5 drawn 0. But they need to change that to 62 fights, because when you have any sort of illness, it is a fight. And Muhammad Ali is still dancing, and is still stinging....imprisoned inside of his body, battling his illness with his mind, dancing and stinging.............still fighting, and still here.
his self esteem was very high and he had a very solid man in his corner Angelo Dundee who came from a family that was around boxing forever...Ali was intelligent and learned quick and he tried to intimidate smaller minds....Frazier also got to give him credit he had to deal with all the hype about him being an uncle tom when in fact Ali came from a middle-class family and Frazier a poor southern family...Ali in fact had white Irish blood on both sides and Frazier had very little cut if any...I don't remember whites just rooting for Frazier in fact there were a lot of white Ali fans but 99.9% of the blacks were rooting for Ali and this had to hurt Joe Frazier
Would make sense if he would be just somebody but he isn´t. There are so many information about him, his life, his character so easily accessible that you can get a good grasp of his personality. I don´t like it. Btw. I gave reasons, open your eyes and read.
Thats your perogative mate, and thats all fine and dandy, but why do people (not necessarily yourself) feel the need to go on about their dislike of the man? I mean, theres fighters i wouldnt be too fond off but i just choose not to speak about them. Now im not having a go at you here B, and i may be wrong here and please do correct me if i am, but ive read several times of your dislike of Ali, again thats your perogative. But whats your take on the rapists and murderers i.e. Tyson and Monzon amongst a few, who the majority of the anti-ali brigade are very much less vocal about. Theres no way these guys get the flak that Ali does, thats what i cant understand
A great man in my opinion, love him or hate him he really did bring a new lease of life to boxing and without him there would probably be far less fans around today
