Cotto should rather fight Maravilla at LMW than Chavez Jr. at catchweight MW

We agree to disagree then. :thumbsup But feel free to bring your hard evidence to clean the rose off my glasses because all I see is Martinez actually, factually taking the short money vs. usually bigger opponents usually at their requested weight and one happening to be smaller (Cotto, possibly at 154 for Miguel's title) does not make him a cherry picker in my book. You're also free to have BETTER SUGGESTIONS for Martinez's P4P#1 goal, (or for Cotto's for that matter). Ishida? Pirog? - have you seen his last fight? Stieglitz at 168, would that make a who lot P4P sense? Everyone else is disinterested or tied (Bute-Kessler rumored, S6, Shaw Hi, WBA MW situation etc). WHO. SHOULD. HE. BEAT. FOR. P4P. #1?

    WHO?

Well lets be honest here, if there is anyone that deserves a big payday its martinez (and froch as well) martinez vs floyd/pac/cotto would be good and he deserves it.

guess Cotto just have to take a beating once again to give Martinez a payday, how rude of them to refuse.

And massive respects to him for doing so! Again, I'm not disputing what he's done, instead I'm talking about what he's looking to do.

    Onwards and upwards! :good

Beat the overhyped Pirog whilst the semi-finals in the S6 are taking place, and then outclass the bigger, more well-known Abraham after he gets eliminated. By then, if he's daring, a few more of the S6 contestants (Kessler, Ward, Froch, Johnson, etc) would be free from their S6 commitments, and would surely possess the key(s) for displacing Pacquiao and Mayweather from their P4P thrones.

Isn't that Mosley's part this upcoming weekend? Only Cotto is not shot. He's the #1 LMW.

No no, I like cotto think about this, cotto will improve his legacy greatly if he is able to beat martinez, he can be a 4 division champion and have that career defining win. I do think martinez would win but with steward in the corner I wouldnt count miguel out if it happened at 154 or 157 catchweight.

It would be a good fight. With the right strategy, I wouldn't underestimate Cotto.

He's not but is doing well there for now. 160 is NOT the place for him at all and like I said earlier, I'm not sure Martinez can make 154 anymore. Cotto/Martinez is a pointless fight to try to make.

Cotto stands a much better chance of winning a Margarito rematch than beating Martinez.

At 154 I'd watch it and expect a good match. At 160 Martinez is too big for Cotto. At a catchweight I'd still favor Martinez.
