First off Arum is "Douche" for even announcing a possible match w/Chavez so close to the most important fight of his career. (Both because it can be a possible distraction & #1 it's VERY disrespectful to Zbik) That said, anything above 154lbs & Cotto is dead meat. The guy is a small WW let alone fighting above the JMW limit... Say Jr. is limited all you want, I'll take Chavez by beatdown.
cotto shouldnt take it if its over 154 . he is by far the much more skilled fighter but his size and weight will be an issue if he moves up in weight
Cotto tko11 Chavez Jr. Chavez will have his moments but it won't be enough to win and Cotto will eventual wear him down.
Cotto is clearly a level or two above Chavez but Cotto is most likely on the downside of his career and isn't a big jr middle and doesn't belong at 160 at all. Chavez will be bigger, yonger, fresher, and will give Cotto some trouble. When you just say the two names it seems like this would be a mismatch but when you look at where they are in their careers and the size factor then this becomes a closer fight. Cotto wins, probably by decision but a later stoppage wouldn't surprise me, in a surpisingly semi-entertaining match.
I love this fight and it's amongst the fights that I want to see made more than any other. It's really intriguing matchup to me. Cotto would be at a really significant size disadvantage. I think he gets rocked in this fight.
Well, Arum did say that Cotto only exists as an option if Jr beats Zbik, which isn't a gimme fight. Zbik is a champ after all. I do think Jr's size will make it easier for him against Cotto than most give him credit for.
Jr. is one of the biggest turds to ever step on a ring. If Cotto gets punched ONCE by Jr., he should stop the fight right there, snatch a microphone from someone and announce his retirement right away.
Cotto by UD I don't see him winning by KO, this Chavez Jr even though he looks slow and one could say he lacks good reflects he punches very hard to the body. That could give Cotto problems. Cotto will need to keep his distance, Jr has more reach, height and can take a punch.
