Is Tarver going to be commentating the fight with Berstein? How will this showtime fight compare to Lampley and Merchant of previous of Pac fight commentating!

Bernstein is the better commentator. He is more relaxed and you can hear his passion and enjoyment for boxing. Lampley is more matter of fact and I still can't get past the stupid bang bang **** out of my head. I'm one of the few who likes Merchant. He tells it like it and gets bored of unexciting fights.

Showtime's boxing crew always does a good job. It's too bad this fight is an obvious mismatch.

Lampley is a certified Pac hater, presumably because he retired his boyfriend Oscar and viciously pummeled Cotto. His infamous "Bang Bang!" diatribe was a result of frustration in how one-sided the Clottey fight was. As I said in another thread, the team Albert or Johnson, along with Bernstein and Tarver is HANDS-DOWN the best commentary team going.

Plus Al doesn't have an agenda like the HBO crew. Steward is constantly trolling for prospects while Merchant's obvious bias against fighters and shapes the broadcast to favor 1 guy over another. And, Max is either trolling for more work or another dumbass game show. Not to mention Lamps who's become irrelevant over the last 5 years. Al Bernstein is the most savvy and knowledable man in boxing today.

As long as the lead commentator is Steve Albert and not Gus Johnson, it's all good.

Bernstein is my favorite in the business and has been for years. I look for the fight to be called much more fairly than the HBO crew would.

I also think it will be good for the non-boxing fan contingent of the audience to be exposed to Bernstein instead of subjecting them to more Merchant and Lederman.

Showtime is going to jinx Manny Pacquiao. The ride stops here.

It will be interesting to hear Showtime commentators finally call the action in a Pacquiao bout. This will be his first appearance in a Showtime event since he was on the Lewis-Tyson PPV nine years ago (and that was a Showtime-HBO collaboration called by Lampley).
