I'm not sure but if your thinking that means he can't fight Lacy your wrong. He has a clause in his contract, as do a all guys in SF, that allows him to fight in other promotions/combat sports.
Why? That's fallacy. He has next to nothing left. It isn't like Diaz is some idiot without the first idea how to box. He's had a pro boxing match already. He's trained and sparred with champions and prospects. He uses a lot of boxing fundamentals in what he does in MMA.
I understand merging all the duplicate threads together - but why is this big merged thread in the MMA forum, anyway? :huh It's about a boxing match. If it had been started here, it would be appropriate to move it to the General Boxing Forum. Yes, one of the combatants is a mixed martial artist. It isn't an MMA topic, though. It's a boxing topic...because they are going to have a boxing match.
http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/lacy-to-fight-mma-star-diaz-83557 Is anyone else intrigued by this? I've always wanted to see what an established MMA guy could do in a boxing match against someone who knows his way around the ring. I know Diaz spars with Andre Ward, so I think he has some skills. I would still think that in a BOXING match that an experienced boxer would have his way with an MMA fighter. What do you think?
Saw Diaz sparring with Henry and he looked like ****. If Lacy has anything left he should decimate Diaz but if the fight goes more than 3 rounds I think Lacy is in trouble.
The problem with this fight is that Lacy has absolutely nothing left. I hope Jeff takes this guy out via brutal KO, but Lacy is at the same level Holyfield is now, if not lower.
Lacy is dire now, even more dire than when he was at his ridiculously overhyped peak, but in a boxing match he should still have way too much game for a novice. Nick Diaz is an excellent striker in MMA terms, but people have to realize that these are two very different sports. Lacy will dominate.
GREAT! When Lacy destroys one of the best MMA has to offer, it will add immensely to Calzaghe's legacy.
Let's wait and see who is right then. :good Lacy is a mediocrity in boxing terms, but he will still have accumulated more than enough craft from his boxing career to have the nous to defeat a rank amateur. MMA striking and boxing are two totally different things, and you don't become a boxer by having one pro fight and doing some sparring. Lacy will make Diaz look like he has no defence and no fundamentals (much like a shot Roy Jones did to Lacy).
