Congratulations to Daniel Geale on one of the best performances and most important wins for Australian boxing in a long time! To go over to the champions country and take the title (Germany of all places!) is as impressive as it gets. :bbb:happy
well done an amazing effort!Havn't seen the fight yet but will later today!!!iN THEIR BACKYARD TOO!!!
That was well worth getting up at 6am on a Sunday for .. great effort. I was a little worried when they took so long to announce because there wasn't much in it.
Geale by desicion over Sylvester by Alexey Sukachev - Boxing Scene com - minutes ago Jahnsportforum in Neubrandenburg, Germany - Australian Daniel Geale (25-1, 15 KOs), one of the finest middleweight technicians in the world, produced the fight of his life to become the new IBF middleweight champion following a heated split decision over previously reigning German fighter Sebastian Sylvester (34-4-1, 16 KOs). It was a tactical and stylistic affair all the way, but the former 5-time Australian amateur champion was the sharper and smarter of the two, getting the well deserved split nod on his succession of twelve hard-fought rounds. This content is protected This content is protected in both favors: Steve Epstein (USA) had it 118-110 - for IBF #1 and The Ring #4 Geale. This content is protected Marcus McDonald (United Kingdom) scored it 118-112 - for the Australian fighter. Boxing Scene had it 117-112 - also for Geale. Referee was Randy Neumann. A big WTF to Mr Andreassen from Denmark!
Definite congratulations to Geale. Don't wont to deviate too much from the celebrations, but 118 - 110 for Slyvester???? I thought Geale had done enough to win comfortably and saw many rounds which could have gone either way; in fact, I would have even understood Slyvester getting a decision by 1 or 2 rounds, but no way was it lopsided in that direction. 116 - 112 Geale

This content is protected This content is protected SS looks pretty banged up for a bloke the crowed thought had won. IMO the Germans are awful people, they dont mind ripping everyone off but hate to be dished up a cold serving of justice. Pretty pathedic of them to be booing Geale after a preformance like that, hats off to SS for raising Geales hand to the crowd. SS knew he had lost. The judge who was watching another fight should be sacked. Sutherland cheating fckbag always seems to get judges who are cheats, this one was from Dutchland no suprize, the other two judges were honest, one from USA not sure where the other was from. Things should now get intresting in AUS. Mundine and Green are nothing but sht stains and its about time Australians got up off their asses and supported a fighter like Geale. Both Mundine and Green should now shut their mouths up until they are prepared to fight for REAL world titles. Leave the media to the guys who are doing it hard and are doing it the right way, you wouldnt want your kids taking short cuts at school so why encourage short cuts in boxing in way of Mundine and Green. Lets hope Geale gets a fight with Mundine, knocks him out and he is the next super star of boxing here in Australia, GOD knows he deserves it more than anyone.
Few points: - Sebastian Sylvester behaved like a champion and a gentleman. Raising Geale's hand and congratulating him was a class act. - Geale should rematch Mundine and fight Garth Wood. Mundine doesn't deserve a rematch and Garth Wood doesn't deserve a fight with Geale. But Geale deserves recognition and a payday. I think the best way to both of those things and raising his profile in Australia is by fighting and beating Mundine & Wood. - Geale is either the best or second best Austrlian fighter today. It only depends on who you rank as number 1, Darchinyan or Geale?
