Good point Daz - but so would have Geale if he'd lost. .....then again, if he'd been ripped off in this particular fight it might have tested him and his corner.
Great result for Daniel Geale and a great result for Australian Boxing. As someone who is trying to learn the trade of boxing, it was a great performance to watch and learn from. The way he maintained his workrate and stopped Sylvester from moving forward and getting into the fight was an education worth the cost of the PPV!
I think Geale will become the targeted champion now at MW. Despite his brilliant win tonight, he will be perceived by the others as the weakest titleist. Lee, Barker, Golovkin, N'Jikam,Lemieux will all want a piece of him now but Geale will be a hard nights work for anyone, Martinez included.
It's ridiculous score cards, such as the ones provided after this fight, that make me wish the game reverted to a single judge... That being the Referee.
Thanks for reminding me Bobby Another point: - The scorecards on all sides I thought were off the mark. Nobody won this fight ten rounds to two but two of the three judges had it just that way at 118-110 one for each side. This was a 115-113, 116-112 fight with Geale getting a UD.
****ing oath IMO Geale clearly won 4,6,11,12 but the others were 50-50 Sylvesters jab was landing frequently but Geales workrate got him the W.:happy:happy:happy how weird was it that the cameras actually zoomed in and we saw what 1 judge scored it.
I though the 118-110 cards for Geale were pretty accurate, i only had SS winning a couple of the rounds and would have scored it pretty much the same.
No fighter deserves it more than Daniel Geale. Always carrys himself in & out of the ring like a chmapion does. Now he has done it, won a legit world title from the legit champion in his own backyard. Doesn't get any better than that. Outstanding mate.... outstanding!
116 - 112 is about right, although scoring 1 or 2 even I could also see, and that had me worried. I had it a little bit wider 117 - 111 but admit some bias for Geale, but was trying to be fair. While Sylv did have some nice clean shots it really was not enough to make up for some of the combinations of Geale.
they said only 4 Aussies have won World titles overseas i think it was Rose,Famechon,Harding and another guy whos name i forget.its now 5.:happy
