Stadium in Arlington, Texas. No official press conference is called yet as of this writing by Golden Boy Promotions (GBP), who promotes the Mexican-American fighter, and the camp of Mayweather, Jr. whose promotional campaign spins under his own company, Mayweather Promotions, Inc.

GBP officials, who offered a few details on condition of anonymity, said they will divulge the specifics of the fight and will call for press conference shortly but decline to confirm its certainty.

Mayweather, Jr. last fought against Sugar Shane Mosley on May 1 of last year and earned a unanimous decision. He was reported to have entertained a plan to set up himself a match with an unknown opponent and have it staged in Africa. But, the same was aborted according to inside report.

As of this writing, it's unclear still if Mayweather, Jr. really wants to fight world's No. 1 boxer today, Manny Pacquiao. The defamation

filed by Pacquiao against Mayweather, Jr. on the issue of the latter's public declaration alleging the former of a potential use of performance enhancing drugs may have just deter both fighters in making the most anticipated fight between the two to happen in the near future.

Pacquiao, for his part, said he is contented about his successful boxing career saying "It's okay for me if he does not want to fight. I have accomplished enough. But, the boxing fans want that fight to happen.":deal

If true I commend both fighers for making this fight happend. Ortiz everyday makes me smile more and more, the dude has not taken an easy opponent since his lost to Maidana. That right there has my respect anyday. Floyd has finally taken on a young lion at this point, maybe we could see Manny do the same thing.

Mismatch, but gotta give Floyd credit for fighting a dangerous, young champion.

If Petersen can get dropped 3 times and walk away with a draw, then Mayweather should have no problem outboxing Ortiz, however I think at 147 Ortiz is another animal and will be a dangerous fight for a Floyd. Gotta favor floyd by wide decision though.

So a guy who recently lost to Maidana and drew with Peterson deserves a fight with Floyd? lol. This is as bad as Pac-Mosley.

He has 1 win vs overhyped Berto...for all we know, Berto is just slightly above Collazo level.

If PBF is gonna come out of vacation, fight Pac or Martinez.

I like the fight, especially for ortiz, he really stepping up in competition this year, if he somehow beats floyd he is definitely the fighter of the year. im tired of the mayweather vs pacquiao talks, time to get it on with some other guys.

First of all this is a rumor, only that, not confirmed by anybody at all, we all have seen this rumor all week, this poster now has it in August, Boxrec has it in September and nobody with any credentials has said anything about this fight, except that is a ****ing RUMOR!
