To be fair, Wilfredo Vasquez was hardly a PR hype job. He'd actually been pretty well-matched for a young champion and was showing really good potential and fighting skills. He looks to have the solid base of a boxer-puncher who can press a fight excellantly.

He fought Arce here, in a fight he can only learn from, and he did very well against Arce IMO.

I still think Vasquez can be a very good fighter, in fact I still rate him pretty highly (and therefore think quite alot of Arce's win) and think he can be a major player in the SBW-FW mix in a few years to come.

both fighters are great. I don't think this defeat will harm vasquez jr too much. He is still one of the main men in the division and I can see him winning a lot more 'world titles'. Full respect to Arce though, that was some finish

Great night for Arce. Wins a world title and wins the event over Pacquiao and Mosley.

I thought Cortez did ok they were both absolutely shattered and I think Vazquez wasn't getting absolutely mullered just was backed up and getting hit with punches whilst tired. I only thought 2 of the punches landed could be considered flush

IF he had survived that I dont know how much Arce would have had left and it being the final round and it being a close fight I thought you had to give him every chance. Fair play if the corner threw the towel/bottle in but I dont think it was a " he needs to stop it moment".

My favourite Mexican fighter after Morales. The guy never seems to stop throwing punches and definitely is one of the best fighters in the world to watch IMO.

Cortez did well, Vasquez was firing back and when the towel came in Arce had actually stopped punching for a couple of seconds.

Arce has somewill, you seen how tired he was.

Made up for arce! Fantastic fighter, has always lacked that boxing ability at world class but makes up for it with heart and determination.

Cortez did OK. Vasquez was shipping punishment but was also doing enough not to get hit with too many really clean shots. Arce was also too tired to throw really heavy punches.
