Mosley wasn't great in either fight, it's lucky the quality of Pac nor Floyds resume hangs on beating him, oh, wait....

 

I was very disappointed in Shane in both contests.

Even though he's never quite been the same fighter since the first Forrest fight, he's still produced good performances, to be competitive with a rejuvenated Oscar in 2003, in the rematch with Wright, against a prime Cotto - whilst easily beating guys like Collazo and Margarito..... it was as if he realised pretty quickly that he wasn't capable of winning, and instead of throwing everything he had and risking being knocked out in the process he was content to go the distance on each occasion.

Obviously because I've never boxed I don't know what it's like to be able to say ''I've fought everyone, beat lots of excellent fighters and in over 50 fights was never stopped'', but surely he ought to have tried to win those two fights?

Hopefully people remember him for the fighter he was in the early 2000's, rather than a glorified sparring partner that he was for the Floyd fight and even worse against Manny..... hate to say this but he looked like a journeyman on a bonus for hearing the final bell.

Real shame.

 

Another reason he barely threw in the Pac fight; he gassed quickly against Floyd. Maybe he knew throwing caution to the wind at any point would see his legs fail quickly, and decided to know he could avoid being battered by not throwing, keeping gas in the tank, and therefore being able to move out of danger consistantly???

He's not strong enough to be ffective at 154 (one of the reasons he was such a good Welter) and can't make 147 without gassing by the looks of it.

Time to hang 'em up or be a gatekeeper until he gets sparked IMO. Hopefully he does the former, knowing Shane he'll be like Roy Jones and keep going. Not a good sign.

 

I just think everything has caught up with him at once.

I'm not sure what weight he walks around at.... probably in the 160's.... he's had several long spells out of the ring too.

His handspeed is now average (from blazing fast)
His legs have seemingly gone

I'm not sure whether his chin has gone or whether he's just lost confidence in his ability to take one..... when you think who he's been hit by before and not flinched, to being shook up on a regular basis by Floyd and sent on his bike by Pacquiao.

Even shot to hell, drained Oscar took Pac's best punch and stood there asking for more.....

I think there are fighters at 154 that he could beat, but they've got to be come forward types, preferably without handspeed and a good dig.

Like you say, ideally he'd quit but he's still got the appetite for boxing and needs the cash.

 

Mosleys confidence is shot, for sure.
