Well considering all these excuse threads being made by these Pac fans about over training and whatever other bull**** excuses being made... I think mine is more straight forward and truthful. There is something I missed last year, was the margarito fight at 150 at first and then the wbc added the belt for it like how they did with canelo recently or was it for the belt to begin with but they agreed on the catchweight?

i'm not to sure but it was done for the belt and 150 catch was stipulated. the cotto fight is a cacthweight at 14 first and the WBO title was added later on upon pac's camps request.

oww oki I see, I dont get why pac is the only one to get hated on for catchweights, williams martinez was a catchweight fight, ortiz won his belt at a catchweight, when he fights pac marquez will have had 2 catchweights just like pac now, hell ray leonard even won 2 belts at 168 catchweight vs lalonde.
roy jones fought at a catchweight vs trinidad and whaqt about norris vs taylor?
hopkins vs oscar? mayorga vs vargas? pavlik vs taylor? I can go on and on.
people act like pac does this all the time while it happened twice clearly to test the waters of a new division. catchweight are meant to create a even playingfield. Manny isnt obligated to give marquez any adventage since he is coming up to fight for his welterweight title, yet he does and still gets hated on.

For what it's worth though, I completely agree that Pac-JMM 3 is a load of crap.
And the whole "just looking for a paycheck" side of JMM was exposed since he wore that shirt to taunt Pac and his camp.

 

well for me there's nothing wrong with catch-weights as long as both fighters agreed to it. it's just a random number out there and the more important thing is that it will make the most important fights.

 

yeah I agree, for example a martinez vs supersix winner at 164/5 would be a good fight and pretty even I think, the problem with catchweights is that people dont give credit to the winner.

 

Yeah but those are mostly people who don't want to give credit to the winner due to their own agendas. In other words, in there was no catchweight, they'd just find another reason.

 

that would probably explain why a guy like pac gets hated on by some and its cool for martinez and ortiz.
