Based on Shanes recent performances, and taking styles into account of course, how well does Tim Bradley, based on what we know of his repertoire from his fights at 140, and how that translates to 147 from his fight Abregu, match up with him? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5jQtJyS1D4[/ame] Seeing as Bob is looking to snag Marquez for a November date, and that Shane is probably still a free agent who isn't looking to go in with anyone who can damage him, this would be a perfect fight for the undercard of Pac-JMM III would it not? Mosley is not what he used to be, whilst a step up from Abregu. What stylistic problems would be pose Bradley, bar his power, which Bradley, not a big puncher and not impossible to hit, might well give him more opportunities to utilise. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehMQiwxamJI[/ame] I imagine Arum will probably try and save Bradleys undefeated record by giving him ssomeone to tick over against but would Mosley be any more than that at this stage anyway? Whilst lending Bradley more Welterweight kudos going into a proposed meeting with Pac.
Think Bradley would beat him. When you've lost grip on the trigger its very difficult to get it back. Impossible maybe.
Mora was awkward and bigger though, although I agree that Shane is pretty much done. How does this fight play outs stylistically then? Would Shane be as negative against a guy who won't hurt him too much? This is assuming of course that Shane still has decent punch resistance rather than having regressed totally. We know this would go the distance, what work can Shane get done whilst he's there? I reckon Bradley would win on points, but it'd certainly be more competitive than the Pac-Floyd fights, they're both a level above Bradley.
I never want to see Shane fight again, he's not got the magic anymore. Watching him get beat by inferior younger guys is no good.
I'd prefer not to Jeff, but you know what it's like :good Again, is this really that dangerous a fight for Shane???
Tim would win IMO. He would be to sharp and determined. Shane's attitude towards the other night and basically saying he didn't wanna risk getting KO'd said alot to me. The man's mentality is no longer of a hungry champion. He's in survival mode looking to earn a few $$$$ along the way. Bradley is a chameleon in the ring.
I think Bradley's "lack of power" is overstated a tad. He's not a huge puncher, but certainly has enough snap behind his punches on him to keep you honest and he had a bigger man in Abregu rocking a couple of times. But I don't think Bradley has the physicality to jump up in weight. He should always stay at light welterweight and try and dominate there. I don't think he's someone who can go up in weight and be successful. Although it seems inevitable that he'll rise a division now. He kind of reminds me of Hagler in a way, very, very muscular at the weight but not somebody who would be best served moving up in weight. It would be to Timbo's detriment to fight an elite fighter at 147(only Mayweather and Pacquiao ATM, really), same with Marvin and the light-heavy's back in the day.
Bradley decision. 8-4 ish. Bradley's activity and scruffy style would earn him rounds in a dull affair. Mosley may be able to rock Bradley a few times but I don't think he would be able to finish him off. At this moment in time the only way Mosley can win this fight is by KO, and I don't think he has the speed or reactions to land what he wants consistently on a moving target. Also Bradley has a sufficient combination of speed and power to worry Mosley IMO.
Is Pacquiao that big a welter thought that Tim couldn't face him though? He's only weighing in 5 pounds over light-welter, and they're about the same height. There might not be that much weight between them in the ring. It's not like he would be going up to face a guy who's going to tower over him. Mosley alright I would have said would have been too big for Bradley. But Shane is fairly late in his career now and doesn't posses the talents he once did. If Timbo can avoid getting caught with anything too serious he should be able to outwork Shane for a decision.
I just mean in general, I don't think Mosley beats him. But I think he'll be similar to Hatton in a way. In moving up in weight, that physical edge he may have had will be gone, not necessarily because he's all that smaller than the guy he's facing(think Mayweather-Hatton), but just because the weight-gain is not beneficial to him. For instance, I think he'd defeat Khan and Ortiz at light-welter, but he'd lose to them at 147 simply because they have the frame to carry the weight better. It's not just the guy you're facing, it has a lot to do with how you yourself cope with the rise in a division, which is what I think Timbo will/would find difficulty in.
Ya i agree with you that Bradley shouldn't move up to 147. I was always worried about talk of him looking to face Berto, and now that Ortiz has filled out so well at the weight than he would have a big advantage over him. 140 fits him like a speedo (no homo) he shouldn't go anywhere. But I'm just not sure i'd rule out him taking on Pacquiao over size. He doesn't even make it to welterweight limit when he weighs in. If he had to he could fit into 140 no problem (he wouldn't, but he could). Pac doesn't beat people with his size, he beats them with his speed and power. Timbo wouldnt even have to let himself go up to 147 if he didnt want to, he could come in just about 140 and still stay as sharp.
