This guy along with Jimmy Jacobs is my favourite commentator of all time, watched many fights with his commentating and I think he calls them brilliantly and his voice is perfect.

    But whats his name ?

When I say he calls the fight brilliantly, I mean his voice and calmness at describing a fight.

My favorites were Dunphy and Cosell...Humble Howie was the voice of the 70's in most of those great fights I was privelidged to watch on free tv.

Don Dunphy was great and one of my Favourites,

Howard Cosell i'm not a fan of to be honest I find his voice and style very off putting, the only fight of his that I really did enjoy his commentating in, was the Sanchez Vs Gomez fight, thought he was great to listen that night.

As much as an institution as Cosell was, he knew as much about boxing as my aunt Charlotte. I wish I liked Dunphy, but he was no analyst.

    Gimme Gil Clancy.

I like Jim Stevenson who does some of those old voice overs on the fight films. He sounds similar but I don't think he's the same guy.

Stevenson would start out, "Hello, this is Jim Stevenson, taking you back to June 21, 1949" or whatever.
I think he did the Dempsey-Willard commentary, "... But referee Ollie Pecord is from the old school .." Classic.

I don't know that could be yet another guy. So many good ones from the old broadcaster style.

Sometimes I question if Cosell did some post fight "voice over" work too to make himself look better.

The Foreman-Frazier fight was closed circuit, not live.....and just about the time the "Down goes Frazier" Cosell rant starts....you can hear a change in the audio quality.

Remember, Cosell did the NFL Highlights at half time on Monday Night Football, and he did such a good job you thought he had called all the Sunday Games live.
