Great to see a prime Roy running his mouth!

Pity the fights with Michalczewski, Benn and Calzaghe never got made at the right time. They would have been interesting spectacles. I believe Roy wins all those fights - anytime before the Ruiz fight - but he has to take some of the blame for not making them too.

Never saw this before, thanks for posting. Collins did just about everything to get that fight.

Jones routinely avoided the best fighters in the weight classes he claimed to be the champion of. He KO'd an impressive list of janitors, taxi drivers, and used car salesman though.
Michalczewski, Collins, Eubank, Benn, and Calzaghe would've rolled Jones and he knew it.

Typical rhetoric by a Jones haters ..As you saw in the video there were 4 guys HBO wanted Jones to fight yet he beat 3 out the 4 .Let me know at what point were they cab drivers !

Jones also beat Toney who both Benn and Eubank avoided

Beat Reggie Johnson who beat Steve Collins but again tell me when they were taxi drvers or janitors ? Oh and did you really say Calzaghe ? The man who waited for Jones to lose several times before growing a set to face the man ..Yeah rolled through Jones yeah Ok keep smoking that crack .

This nonsense only convinces the clueless simple minded dumb****s. "Oh look, he stuttered, he's scared!", "Oh he called him out, oh lawdzzz he has balls!, the other guy must be shitting!", these comments right there only come from the physically disgusting and mentally limited.

Steve Collins and Nigel Benn were both offered career high paydays by HBO and turned down fights with Roy Jones, you can go do the searching all you want. Right before the fight with Brannon, Roy Jones was questioned openly and publicly with Steve Farhood, Ron Borges, Tony Page and Jim Lampley(the host) about these guys. And please don't mention Eubank, he lost to Collins that's why Collins was offered. That's just one thing, the other is only straight out idiots think any of these guys can even compete with Roy Jones. He would have beat them up so bad your glorified fantasies of these guys would be flushed down the toilet in a matter of minutes permanently, if you're mentally capable of doing so.

Try to answer this post with something logical, if you're capable.

You have no idea what you're talking about regarding the Benn and Jones negotiations.

Benn may of turned down $10,000,000, but Jones turned down $25,000,000. No comparison. Benn would've been sued most of the 10m for breaking contract, so it was pointless, and was offered 25m, which would've been all his. The man in question is Don King. Benn signed a three-fight deal with him after Eubank II, that he extended another three fights after McClellan.

King offered Benn and Jones 25m apiece to fight (at Wembley Stadium), but would've had options on Jones. So had Jones beat Benn, he'd likely of had to fight Liles after, and if he lost, he'd likely of had to fight Nunn. Jones wanted none of that.

Jones's team offered Benn 10m (I imagine Jones would've made more), but he was still under contract to King until the Malinga fight - which he lost (and announced his retirement in the ring after the decision).

(It's my belief Benn would've fought Jones in America without King, had he beat Malinga as expected.)

It's a fact then that Jones didn't want to fight the threats, despite hideously crazy ammounts of money being guaranteed to him.

Regarding Steve Collins - he was offered $3,000,000 to fight Jones in America. But Frank Warren thought the fight would generate a lot more money in the UK. Collins wanted more money than that.

I am tired of people calling Roy Jones resume garbage. Sure, there were fights that could have been made but never happened (it was not all Roys fault!), and that was disappointing to the fans. Sure, there was a period where Roy was in the spotlight and fought his share of journeymen - as Larry Merchant put it 'that was junk'.

    BUT: Roy holds scalps over
    -James Toney
    -Bernard Hopkins
    -Virgil Hill
    -Montell Griffin
    -Thomas Tate
    -Merqui Sosa
-Reggie Johnson (past his best but far from shot)
-Antonio Tarver (yeah he won that 1st fight)
    -John Ruiz
    -Jorge Castro
    -Clinton Woods
    -JC Gonzalez

For good measure, we can also put an over the hill Felix Trinidad and an ancient Mike McCallum onto that list.

now tell me, can a resume with such wins be considered anything else than good?

Roy could (should) have retired on top after beating John Ruiz, but instead he faced Antonio Tarver 3 times, Glen Johnson, Joe Calzaghe and B-Hop again. He keeps taking dangerous fights at a stage where he shouldn't box anymore. So don't tell me Roy is a cherry-picker.

How was Toney-Reggie Johnson a controversial decision? It was a close fight where Toney prevailed. Is every close fight a controversial decision in itself?

But yeah, Reggie Johnson was a great fighter at the time. He got of to a good start against Toney (who is a slow starter) and is to this very day the only man to legitimely put Toney down (the Roy Jones and Sam Peter KDs were flush KDs with Toney being off-balance). I remember Toney was hurt in that 2nd round and Reggie gave him hell. But Toney regained his composure over the next few rounds and started to impose his style and his rhythm. A close fight, but Toney had the edge.
