Who do you think wins and why ? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk3vZBMkypI[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iny-JzuL1s0&feature=related[/ame]
Loughran is flat footed, leans back with low hands, but doesnt have the quick movement or handspeed to make up for it. Is wide open after punches(like many of the old timers appear to be). Theres no rush to position himself after throwing and his punches lake venom, his jab seems a little lazy. He sticks his chin way out forward when throwing his very wide hooks. Walker is clearly the smaller guy with much less reach. Loughran's main success came from the clinch holding the back of the small bull's head then throwing uppercuts. Calzaghe is of similr size, is much faster, hits harder, better technically and his attrition would be too much for the lackadaisical Loughran
Loughran figures him out and outpoints him (what else?) over 15. It would be awkward at first, but Joe wouldn't have a stationary target in Loughran..who would be able to win a fencing duel more times than not over the distance of 15. The difference would be as thin as a razors edge, but Loughran would have his nhand raised in victory after the decision was announced I think.
Calzaghe by a close decision. He didn't have the greatest resume, but in my opinion Calzaghe does very well H2H.
Calzaghe was tricky to beat head to head, but a 40+ Bernard Hopkins almost solved the puzzle. I vote that Loughran probably closes the deal. It should also be noted that Tommy Loughran was the guy who originaly solved the puzzle posed by Harry Greb. He produced the blueprint that Tunney coppied.
Calzaghe wins a wide decision, I'm in 2 minds whether Kessler is better or not, but I think he might be. Either way Calzaghe's footwork would see him run rings around Loughran Loughran doesn't have many of the qualities or ring craft of a 43yo Hopkins Calzaghe may well be a much better boxer than Greb
JC is not even the best mw (old weights) in british boxings great historical legacy, and hopkins is way overated in the same pantheon of World mw history!!! Loughran and Walker without any worry!
